New 3.1 Hairstyles!

I really don't understand what people expect with hairstyles, the female ones don't look like anything we have in game as far as I'm aware, and the Male Miqo'te hairstyle looks completely original in this game to be, but a little dated in terms of real hairstyles. Anyway, what do you guys expect really? Extravagant and odd hairstyles with half the head shaved and the other spiked up to look like an anime character? I genuinely want to know what kind of hairstyles you guys want in the game, unless not personally liking it = not unique.

I'm not asking for crazy hairstyles, just something that doesn't look like what we have in game already. If you'd like, I can hunt down the original competition thread and pull some that I think would have added more variety, but per your earlier comment you don't want this turning into a "THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN PICKED INSTEAD" thread, which I understand.


Females already have a medium length style that looks pretty darn close to the new one we're getting. Sure, the new one is wavy and comes with removable bangs, but that doesn't change the fact it's still a very similar style.

I don't think they've ever introduced a race specific hairstyle in a patch, have they? If anything they've made some of them available to other races.

That's what they've actually done during all but one of the 2.x patches. They release a new hairstyle for one of the races, and the hairstyle from last patch is made available to all other races. The only exception is when they released the Hyur-specific hairstyle (the long male hair with the band across the forehead, and the female dreads) -- it was only available to highlander hyur, not midlanders.

So the only race that hasn't received a temporarily restricted hairstyle is midlander hyur. I'm still waiting for that one, and I'm not even playing midlander ^^;

But it seems they've ceased that now, since the hairstyles released in the last patch before HW was made available to all races from the get-go. (I guess they figured they'd given all races their chance to be a special snowflake... poor midlanders ;_; )

And I agree with OP about the texture on the afros O.o I'm not too keen on that hairstyle to begin with, but... It kinda looks like they're wearing a really thick knitted/woolen cap D:

I do remember some of the older hairstyles from that thread for posting ones that didn't get in, but to be honest all the nicer ones were fairly long and looked good due to the artist's skills. I have now learnt that unless it's an incredibly simple hairstyle we're going to get sheep fleece on our head so most of the more complex ones wouldn't work... or at least ones that aren't just a straight flow of hair (hair textures are really terrible in this game).

But hey, PS3 limitations.

I don't really think the female hairstyles look too similar to what we have now, I won't be using it regardless (probably). I know of two on the Female Miqo'te, the one with the hair band the medium length one (I don't know what people call it). Neither of those are similar to me.

no matter what they release for new hairstyles (with the exception of the afro) will in someway have similarities to something we have available already. unless of course they give us the option to go bald. lets just be happy we are getting more options. smile once in a while and the world will seem brighter

I kinda like the new female styles. I might try the bangs version on my character.

The afro looks ridiculous. It doesn't even look like an afro, more like a tumbleweed. I will never sport this horrible look.

I was just hoping for a shorter no bang style without looking super poofy/awkward or a bun/ponytail option with some flair. I wish some of the other race hairstyles were available to Au'ra

True - if you look at all the races and genders. But personally, I find there's quite a lack of available spiky cuts (Lightning doesn't count) for female Miqo'te, especially longer ones. Although that probably goes for females in general. The males got all the goodies there!

I'd be happy just having the male hairstyles converted for female.
