I wouldn't just because manually doing the (not anymore) auto-attacks has destroyed more mouses than I can count. I've stopped playing Action based MMOs because I valued what little was left of my money after an nth purchase.

I like ffxiv, and while combat system is, well, "dated" with hard rotation based tab target buff/debuff systems, it still is fun for the most part. It works for this game since it's built upon ideas and designs from the early to mid 2000 MMO's.
I generally prefer more "action combat" like Tera or even Wildstar/GW2 (where they're kind of a hybrid system) where it's more priority/skill based than hard rotation based tab target games. But like I said, the combat system that's in this game works fine as it is and I'm ok with that.

i wouldnt call FFXIV in the same path
and the coliseum set does fit the name right, it is reasonable to have small number of those set which obviously fit ul'dah theme
it is not about the revealing, a swimsuit is more revealing than many armor, but that's find, becoz it is a swimsuit. it is the "why" that matter
it good that FFXIV are still a "clear water" when (Korean and Japanese) made MMORPG shifting to the "E" theme

and yes, i couldnt imagine how horrible the action system will be, when we have already almost 4 bars full of skills, and a standard rotation and positioning
all the action base RPG i have play, have a way simpler skill system, yet it still spamming mouse click 1 alot
    which i found boring
i never play WiXdstar, but i dont found TeXa system that fun at all

    No.

Action combat is one of the reasons I will be skipping FFXV, the very first offline Final Fantasy I'll skip. Don't get me wrong, I love action games and I'm an avid Bayonetta/Warriors fan, but on action games, not on my RPGs. The slower the pace of combat, the better a RPG is for me.

Ugh, definitely not. It seems that nearly every game out there is all twitch-reflex action game, and if you want a more traditional rpg experience, you're stuck going back to a 10yr+ old game.

I don't have a problem with action games, I just don't want them to be the only option out there. It seems more and more that rather than a choice of style, action vs traditional is an evolution, and anything that doesn't use twitch action is boring and outdated.

That said, I would far prefer a priority based rather than set in stone rotation based combat.

What about Type 0 and Crisis Core? Both of those were very fast paced.

I have Type 0 but didn't play it yet (my Wii U/FFXIV is taking all my free time) and Crisis Core wasn't really fun to me, however I didn't find it very fast paced (mostly because of the annoying "Modulating Phases" or maybe I was still under the "Dissidia effect" when I played it). Even DoC, a game that's the absolute opposite of what I expect from a FF game was more enjoyable to be honest.

Don't bother play type-0, it's 100% action combat. Also seems weird you are skipping action based combat when you've played FF games with far more action than what was in XV (demo), e.g Dissidia. I really fail to think you are skipping a game that you have never played do to a combat system that you have never played given contradictory reasoning.

I'm a big fan of action games, but Type-0 was 100% trash in that regard, it really did feel like a PSP game. The camera control was so wonky I could barely play as the Ninja equivalent (Rem) due to the camera jumping all over. I would recommend playing it for the story if you can get past the subpar gameplay, one of the few games that made me genuinely cry at the ending. I do hope they fix up the controls with Type-1 or whatever they're going to call it.

Dissidia is a fighting game with some RPG elements (namely levels/equips), not an actual RPG. Also, it had a menu-based combat option that made it feel like an fast ATB game. I have other reasons to not like FFXV, like ambientation, character design, party composition etc. I will still try to play it, but I think I'll skip it and focus on the other two big RPG titles I'm looking for next year.

EDIT: And I had the most important reason to play Dissidia and 012: seeing all the story interactions of my 'favorite media character of all time' with the other protagonists.
