nah, i play FFXIV, becoz it feel like traditional FFXIV
if i want MMO-ARPG, i would go try GX2, TeXa...etc
most of the time, it dont work very well with complex skill system
i like ARPG like PXO2 but they have much simpler skill system than FFXIV

Hated Teras combat, but loved their gear designs and dyes!
so...no, but the ffxiv gear designers could learn a few things from Tera ^^

DC Universe Online has a really great combat system. Just sayin'. Although, I prefer the combat system we currently have as it's more fitting to FFXIV, but if you want fast paced, action, combat you might try out DCUO. You can download and play for free so it wouldn't hurt to try it out for fun.
Nah, I like this combat system...some people go "oh it's so slooow" but. I don't know. I don't think so.
If I wanted action like that I'd just pop in a fighting game.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
I would love a GOOD, POLISHED MMORPG (that isn't P2W - thanks, Neverwinter Online) with an action combat somewhat like TERAs or semi-action combat like Neverwinter Online. I would really, REALLY love it.
...But not if it means losing FFXIV's current combat system. Out of any game with a simple target-and-use-skills-from-an-action-bar combat system, FFXIV's is the best by far. I would know, as I've played nearly all of them for at least a little while. Combos, Off-GCD abilities, more combos, and even more combos. And did I mention the combos? They add a hell of a lot to a gameplay like this one.
I'd rather have some new MMORPG have a good action combat system than have FFXIV adopt it.
That said, to answer the actual thread question: if FFXIV had an action combat system, and it wasn't terrible, then I'd play it.
If done well. I enjoy the combat style of XIV, TERA, and Vindictus all about equally. (At least when balancing for the fact I only have multiple level-cap classes in XIV.) That said, I find the deciding factor for my enjoyment to not really so much about the combat system as the fights themselves: do they give numerous strategic opportunities, or do they just force you to dodge, dance, dodge?
Edit: That said, there are a lot of things in our current combat I'd hate to lose. Just look up any 1-minute or less youtube vid for a perfect physical dps opener, link it to a friend who plays another MMO, and see how quickly he asks if he can get into this game.
Also, would it have to be the only option? Would be nice to be able to swap from tab- to reticule-based targeting on the fly... Kind of like just putting <mouseover> on every ability, instantly.
(The real makings of an action MMO to me is impact/force, where dps are capable of staggering/debilitating enemies through damage as well as status effects, and that precise timing of abilities provides survivability, and progressive AoEs (getting hit as the animation passes through you, not when the AoE starts into its AoE zone potentially meters away), such that the visuals are intuitive indicators for dodging/parrying/suppressing. That could just as easily be the case via a tab-target system.)
....
Recently did a slow-cam test with dodges in TERA/Vindictus, where my ping is a decent bit higher than here on XIV. I could dodge out of things within less than the ping margin. To my allies, it looked like I got hit, just barely, but on my screen I'd have dodged it by inches. This was often the case for others as well. I'm not sure if those games some how make the view of the attacks more relevant to the client side of things or what, but whatever it is... it really seems to work. Would love to have that here in XIV, where the norm is always to run straight into AoEs for max safety (out before, in during).

If the combat was like type-zero with no changes, besides allowing party sizes greater than 3, then yes. Probably the best combat system balanced for multiplayer that I've seen out of any JRPG. Also they have 14 jobs, mostly balanced (really hard to balance 14 jobs without homogenizing.. ).
*cough*

I've seen videos of some action MMO games, and they all look like they are doing nothing but spam click a single button...
Really not much interested to see my character spinning with a giant axe like a top to deal with mobs over and over and over again...
