It's actually a realistic requirement, too. When I was studying to be an engineer, they required me to study non-engineering things, like English and PhysEd. Not that the latter did me any long-term good ...

Nor should they care. Cost is not the same as price, nor is there necessarily a link between the two. Some items can be sold at a profit, others only at a loss. Just like the real world.

Outside of the weird placing of Mantra as a cross-class skill, DoW/M classes generally only need two jobs at, at most, level 34. For most of them, it's usually one class at 34 and another at 26. That's a far cry from needing to level another class to 56 to be able to get blue scrips more easily so you can unlock your blue scrip recipes on the crafting job you want to focus on.

Cost for the buyer is the price, production cost for the maker is not the the price for the buyer. I think it was pretty clear I was referring to the former.

No, it wasn't. And no one can know in advance the "cost" as you are trying to re-define it.

Real example: My wife and I have an HQ Aurum Regis Earing up on the MB for 10 million gil, but that's a number we picked arbitrarily and can change at any time. Someone else has one up for 15 million gil. So if you are saying that potential buyers may not know in advance what number my wife and I would arbitrarily pick ... what's your point?

This is a game. I could give the Earings away and still be having fun, and having fun is my sole reason for playing FFXIV.

In my view, the very title of this thread is flawed: there's no "Work vs. Reward" issue in FFXIV, because I don't do any work in FFXIV. To quote Tom Baker's "Doctor:" "Work for? Work for?!? I don't work for anyone, I'm just having fun."

How am I redefining it exactly?

Exactly...it's not fun, it feels very unrewarding and just not worth it. I am pretty sure the only reason my BF sticks with the crafting is cuz there isn't anything else to do in game atm. When I saw what they did with the crafting in the expansion I was just shocked..its like come on, give crafters something worthwhile to craft besides glamour...

What part of "has to be paid" do you not understand?

On a related note: I just discovered the "Ignore list" for these forums. Yay!

The rest of the definition, "to buy or obtain something"

It's on their wish list, they "have no idea what the cost would be;" the amount they would have to pay to buy it.

Update: the Earings just sold for 10 million gil, less than 16 hours after we listed them.
Perhaps someone on Faerie saw my post? LOL.

P.S. This is our first-ever multi-million gil sale, so we're pretty happy about it.
