Outside of the weird placing of Mantra as a cross-class skill, DoW/M classes generally only need two jobs at, at most, level 34. For most of them, it's usually one class at 34 and another at 26. That's a far cry from needing to level another class to 56 to be able to get blue scrips more easily so you can unlock your blue scrip recipes on the crafting job you want to focus on.

They do that because that's the University model, not because those are, in any way, required for Engineering.
