eso weapons vs relic weapons

With the Relic weapons coming in 3.1, is it even worth wasting the esos to get a weapon? I know we don't know the stats or the look of the weapons yet but let's be honest here I'm sure it'll be atleast equal to if not better than the antiquated artifact weapons ilvl wise. It just feels like it would be a huge waste of esos for a main class when you could be getting body pieces. Also this is more about people who don't do savage, atleast not yet, I know you need the weapons for that.

My guess is the Esoterics weapons will be needed for the relic in some way or another, since they're job-specific, but we probably won't know for sure until we get the patch (since they've never really given us much info on relic stages in advance).

The esoteric weapon will probably be a lot easier to get then relic. But like you said you'll be able to work on esoterics and relic parallel to each other and use the tomes for something else. I'm not sure if there is a right answer here if your not raiding savage. It's probably safe to say both wpns will be overkill for smashing through expert roullette and void ark. The airship exploration is the only unknown right now, not sure how easy or hard that's going to be.

To be honest, I didn't bother getting eso weapon, waste of eso when relic will be better and eso stats sucks in general, but I went with this mindset as healer, DD must have harder time so ending to get it just to do more dps while there isn't better option.

Also if you don't do alexander savage don't bother getting it since ravana weapon is pretty good even on stats.

It will still take more than a month till 3.1 is out... So... Unless you want to use all your ESO on your secondary jobs, get the weapon.

And more to point, having it for your main job will mean you're also going to be able to get it more competently than without.

To OP, it depends on what you do: if you want to go in Savage and clear it tomorrow you'd better take your antiquated Eso weapon, for everything else a Ravana Ex weapon will di good enough. I took my Eso weapon right after it was out and I got the right amount of Eso and it was worth it, I even love it aesthetically but going after it now may be not as useful indeed

If you are dps you should be using whatever the highest ilvl weapon available is. At 3.1 two things are likely going to happen, the eso weapons will be able to be upgraded to 210 and the relic quest will drop. Chances are there will be a hours and hours of grinding involved and there's a good chance it won't be bis until the end of the 3.1 cycle before 3.2 drops the new raid.
So realistically you probably have another month and a half until you get a relic that's comparable to the eso weapon.

Weapon is always the largest upgrade so personally as a dps and tank I always get them no matter what. But whether the value is good enough for you is completely up to you.

Well the eso weapon can always go to your retainer. Depending on the relic ilvl I will be upgrading the eso on my alt classes.
