Hi guys. Kinda glanced at this thread a few times, but never really joined in. Soooooooo.... I've just capped all my battle classes (again) so I'm kinda excited to start the tome grind. Probably less excited when I figure out how much of a grind it'll be.

Newbie question: what role should I do my first run of Neverreap and Fractal with? I'm prepared to get odd looks for being Gubal library gear, but... well, I need to get it over with lol

If you’ve managed to level all of your battle classes to 60 without setting foot in either Neverreap or The Fractal Continuum, then i must say that i’m impressed. (^_^ )-b

The thing is, there is no real answer to your question in regards to “Which role you should use for your first Neverreap or Fractal run”. My best answer is, use the class you are most comfortable with and don’t afraid to ask for help or tips during a dungeon run.

But, you might have already seen several forum threads telling you how to play a class, which class “sucks” and what kinds of people you come across during these dungeons. My tip in regards to that:

Forget all about that. Ignore those threads. Hands on experience is always the best in my book. You yourself have to determine which class, job or role suits you best. (^_~ )

I personally had both my first runs on a Paladin, since that the first job i had to 60 and i wanted to get it ready for Alexander as soon as i could. Back then, most people would have the same gear i had (which was basically a mixture of Grubal and Vault gear), so maintaining hate wasn’t extremely difficult.

Nowadays, a lot of people have farmed Alexander and Esoterics Tomes in order to gear up, so you can count on party members having an average item level of between 180 and 190. If you dive into those 2 level 60 dungeons with an average item level of 150, you might be in for a tough journey. If you are up for the challenge, then by all means go for it.

There is a shortage of Tanks in the Aether Datacenter, so you’d basically get an instant queue pop when queuing as a tank.

If i want to play it safe when diving into a new Dungeon, i’d get my White Mage. I can sit back and observe how things are going in a dungeons while keeping everyone alive. Once i’m more comfortable, i’ll add some DPS to the mix.

Queuing up as a healer isn’t that bad, since you’d most likely get a group within 5 minutes of the queue.

Then you have the DPS. Going in as a DPS with Grubal gear isn’t bad, but the other members of the group might have to leave their expectation at the door. You might encounter a Tank that pulls more than 1 pack, without verifying if the party can actually kill it before either the tank or the healer gets into trouble. Just so you know. (^_~ )

But, the same goes for when you are queuing up as a tank. The other party members might feel that you are not pulling fast enough and will pull more mobs without your consent. They can also go bonkers on the DPS and generate so much hate that you are having a hard time keeping up.

If you do happen to come across those groups, just remain calm and do what you can. As long as you know what your limits are and you can progress through the dungeons smoothly and with ease. (^_~ )

I think that’s all the advise i can give you, so i’d like to wish you good luck with your first Neverreap and Fractal runs. (^_~ )-b
