It is possible I could be wrong but it is unlikely that I am since logically what I said makes the most sense. They might streamline the MSQ but they will not do away with the need to complete certain trials and quests within it which are highly relevant to the story and prevent RMT bots from infecting HW and by proxy other future zones.
    Yes they will

SW has already said that in 4.0 onwards you will NOT need to do any MSQ stuff up to that patch in order to access the new stuff. The RMT thing has been happening for me since I entered HW so these gates are doing nothing to stop them.

I can not wait until 4.0 when the MSQ is not required to enter new said area and get the new jobs.

So tell me this OP, if EVERYONE is so upset over having to do a few fetch quests/trivial older content to access expansion content and SE caves to where people can skip all of HW and still access 4.0 who will want to play wiith any of those people who won't have any newer skills/relevant Tome gear? Not to mention the only way you could hit max lvl without appropriate lvl dungeons is spamming old 15-49 dungeons and fates which will take a lot longer.

I thought he said they would be looking at streamlining it for future expansions? Could you link where he said they would remove it entirely, would be a nice read.

Main Scenario Progression to Access 4.0 Content

Though it’s still a bit early to talk about this, you’ll be able to access and accept quests for Patch 4.0 even if you have not completed the main scenario for the Patch 3.x series. Similarly, you’ll be able to unlock new jobs regardless of your scenario progression. Due to this, we feel the need to create a system that will allow you to watch a digest of what happened. However, for the 3.0 story, since everyone has seen everything up until now I think it was enjoyable, and while there were some pros and cons for this, I think having the system we did for the 3.x series was a good thing.

Well, thats far and away from saying they will remove all MSQ requirements. In fact all it really says is "We are considering making it so you don't have to complete 3.0", doesn't say anything about how much you will need at all. You can take almost anything you like away from that quote. You may need up until unlocking at least all of the areas in 3.0. there is no mention of excluding the 2.0 requirements.

Tbh, it wouldn't be a bait and switch at all, especially with the first part of the first sentence. If you take it as a promise of what will be from that quote, that's on you for seeing what you want it to be. If he said something along the lines of "There will be no MSQ needed to access any content when we release 4.0" thats a very different story. And what will they find out about really "pisses gamers off", everyone will still pay their subscription and continue to complain, just like now.

If someone doesn't want to complete the MSQ, which really does NOT take that long, why should they have access to content that requires MSQ progression? In fact, if you are interested in being a Warrior of Light, the least you can do is finish your MSQ and earn your title of Warrior of Light, rather than person who can afford to pay 15 bucks a month and pay for an expac. All the complaining about having to do the MSQ to access future expacs is ridiculous. I barely put in any effort to get the MSQ done and had zero problem finishing it.

Come on people. The MSQ has a great story to tell, and is a very enjoyable experience. This game isn't only about running dungeons and raids and getting the most 1337 gear you can. I just don't understand people who aren't interested in completing the MSQ. This is Final Fantasy. Have you ever played any other numbered Final Fantasy that didn't require you to complete the story in order to finish the game???

Mugen, my characters story is MINE. My character is NOT the warrior of light and makes his own story as he goes, throughout the day end of story. I do not sit here and write story's based on my characters in MMORPGs and Dungeons and Dragons for nothing. I do this because my characters story is mine. Lastly, the "This is Final Fantasy" excuse is not relevant as this is NOT just a FF game anymore. It is an MMORPG not just an FF game.

For more upon why the MSQ should not be required, go to my youtube channel listen below.

The ultima trial is more along the difficulty level of ex primals, so it is not in the roulette. It's too hard (at 50 with random). Though, overheating does help a bit.. Even still, when I went to do it, we finished it with less than a minute on the clock due to how many wipes we had (DF group).
