I'll go even further. I don't bother with it, one, being that I have to complete a fight "Ultimate Balad" which at this point in the game is absolutely irrelevant. I'm was just dumbfounded why Yoshi and his crew would gate Alexander Savage behind that. Two, there is absolutely no use for that Alexander Savage gear.

Yeah, it's kinda weird how gear has no use. You get Esoterics gear to farm dungeons in order to get more Esoterics gear, and then with 3.1 rolls around it will be balanced around i190 so your Esoterics will be somewhat useless, you then do that to get i210 Esoterics gear, in order to farm more i210 Esoterics gear. Savage gear has a use in that in makes Savage doable, like gear from A1S-A1S will help a bit with A3S+. That's just how it is with MMORPGs though, no use in questioning it... Just progressing your character I guess.

Seriously, how sadistic do you have to be to... LIKE getting brutally punished? Perma losing gear for messing up? Get that mindset out of here.

If it happened, I'd unsubscribe and watch in glee as Final Hardcore XIV would burn to the ground.

Easy solution: smack Mr. Happy and his ilk with DMCA takedown notices and end the "watch someone else play it before you're allowed to" trend.

My solution to this would be to keep normal mode and swap the implementation. Savage comes first and then story mode. Kind all like with coil and then coil nerfed with echo. Except you wouldn't need to need savage.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that gear currently the best in the game? I mean it seems to me that it's no more useless than Allagan or High Allagan gear was from Coil. Perhaps you've forgotten this is vertical progression? I don't remeber many calling coil gear pointless...

There is no use for it as anything other than savage won't require higher than 180 for several patches and you'll get 210 tomestone gear for mindlessly doing hunts and expert coinflip in November, spending months wiping on savage just to get 210 gear is a waste of time.

This is the only game, video or otherwise, I have ever played where watching or reading guide is considered mandatory by a significantly self important minority of players who are to damned impatient and self absorbed to help people learn by doing.

it's basically the conundrum of beating the hardest content to get the best gear.
what are you gonna use that for? Beat the hardest content? It's like games where you have to beat the hardest boss to get the best weapon, you have no more use for it since you already beat the hardest boss.
