There are appropriate times to use knockback, and as a middle part of a rotation is NOT one of them. In fact if he was actively using knockback on the same target as the dragoon, every time, I'd say the machinist was trolling him. Asking him to stop, then threatening a kick if he doesn't, is an appropriate response.

The fact that the machinist went and pulled a whole room and brought it back to you when his behavior was called out and threatened with discipline pretty much confirms he was trolling, in my opinion.

I've been playing MCH lately and enjoying it, and I make a point of using Blank as a finishing move. It's pretty satisfying. And getting MCH comms are a nice validation that I've been playing the class right.

I would have voted to dismiss the MCH. I hate knock back moves so much. As a Tank, DPS, or Healer. I DPS on SMN, and if somebody uses a knock back move and the mob exits my LoS then I loose the cast. The worst part is when somebody acutally runs up to the mob to use the knock back move. I don't mind them so much if the mob is coming after you, but when you run up to the mob just because the CD is up. I hate you. I've seen SMNs place Garuda/Emerald next to the mob so they will use it. (For whatever reason they have their pets on Sic.) Just keep your knock back moves for when you're soloing or grab hate. That's what they are there for. Not to annoy/troll your fellow party members.

I would've voted to boot the DRG at first, personally. The community is pretty dead set on using everything it cam to increase DPS, which if you're trying to do as much damage as possible, you'll keep blank on cool down. It's a free 100 potency attack after all.

100 potency, and the tank and drg lose how many gcd and positionals?

As a finisher or immune mobs you should totally use it. On trash in the middle of people's rotations, though? Kind of a dick move.

    Just use Fluid Aura etiquette.

You can use it as much as you want as often as you want whenever you want in solo play.

If you're using it to punt mobs that a melee teammate is hitting, you are being a dick and deserve a kick.

As a tank? I've only ever lost one gcd to a mch using blank, if that. Even as a ninja or a monk I'd rather see the machinist using it since that means they at least care about doing as much damage as possible. What makes Fluid aura bad isn't the knockback on its own, but the knock back combined with bind, which prevents the mob from moving back into position.

I've had blank disrupt me as a tank. Got into an argument in SV over it. Asked politely for the mch to stop and he refused. Even kicking it into a wall was juuust enough to interrupt my skill mid-animation.

I think the kick was 100% justified (in the OP).

As a tank, I used to be annoyed by knock back for the same reasons everyone has already stated. These days, I've learned to get over it. You actually waste more time complaining about it, rather then if you'd just ignored it and move onto the next mob.

DPS loss isn't that significant. Yes, it disrupts your rotation, but so does spending 10 minutes arguing about it in a dungeon.

If you care about doing as much damage as possible you'll never roll a MCH.

100 potency from a buffbot vs 400 from, an actual damage dealer. Knockback as a DPS booster = insta-kick and blacklist.
