On the other hand MP is damage to a DRK. Excess MP will be spent on DA + SE which is an extra 120 pot over using Delirium. Grit costs something like 75% of DA, so you're really losing about 90 pot worth of damage on top of the lost GCD. Not as bad as PLD, but still more than the single GCD. Well, and probably a few 1/10ths of a second depending on how good you are at timing the Grit drop > next attack at the start of the GCD.
This is really moot since if you're managing MP right you have more than enough wiggle room. Not to mention turning Grit off means Blood Weapon which means MP. I say this as a DRK that just cleared A2S in the MT slot while stance dancing throughout the whole fight save for double jagd when I kept Grit up the entire time. Never MP floored, did 950 DPS.

The whole argument holds no water, Grit costs no MP and no GCD to turn off, and a GCD+MP to turn on, compared to PLD which requires half the MP to switch and the other half to switch back, the difference is you lose a GCD on both counts.

You misunderstand. I never meant to imply that DRK had it worse. Just that the MP spent on Grit means something to a DRK because you can always spend extra MP on more damage. MP turning on Shield Oath or Sword Oath means very little to a PLD since the PLD doesn't have that much to spend MP on anyway.

So if you're going to state the true cost of grit, it's 1 GCD lost and 90 potency worth of MP (single target) lost every time you turn on Grit.

Again, it's still better than the PLD who has to spend 2 GCD, I wasn't arguing that.

And you can still turn out 950 DPS on A2S, even with that missing damage
