Very true! Indeed you may keep using Impuls to proc more DE! Thanks for the input!I have been using this rotation (with slightly different replacement of SM & UC but it doesn’t matter) since they fixed the double DE from a single Impulsive (cry)
Its actually possible to get 3x 530+ rarity if you keep gambling on Impulsive up to the 3rd attempts even you got a proc early on, with the trade off of guaranteed 3x 497+ rarity
Assume you have reached the appraisal cap
1) Impulsive (proc ) 103 -> Impulsive (proc) 155 -> Methodical 172 -> Methodical 115 (total 545)
(you may use Impulsive in your 3rd attemps (possible to reach 585 ) but there is no point)
2) Impulsive (proc ) 103 -> Impulsive (no proc) 155 -> Impulsive (proc) 103 -> Methodical 172 (total 533)
3) Impulsive (no proc ) 103 -> Impulsive (proc) 155 -> Impulsive ( proc ) 103 -> Methodical 172 (total 533)
Nice guide, thanks. I was wondering, does it make any sense to go for 1 star items from legendary nodes for collactable turn-ins? Of course assuming you have high enough stats.
Favor node tips you might consider adding, Caimie:
One thing I do when running favor nodes is use the Waymarks A, B, and C.
I place one on a high point near each pair of nodes, often choosing a rock or cliff near the one node of the pair that always spawns at the same spot.
The Waypoints stay up for hours and are visible from very long distances, especially at night. They prevent me getting lost (which wastes precious seconds) or having to use a buff to find the nodes.
Also, I changed the color of the node name-bar to bright orange for better visibility, especially of botany nodes in bushes. Main Menu -> Character Configuration -> Display Name Settings -> NPCs -> Objects. The little circles in this menu can be clicked to change the color. I also set the "HP Bar" to Always.
Unfortunately, I cannot answer your question with 100% confident. Although I have obtained most of the Folklore tomes, I have never used them for Red Scrips. I have developed my "schedule" of Red Scrips + Blue Scrips run, and it involves Chysahl Green -> Adam Ore -> Morel -> Cuprite. It works out perfectly for me (with Morel being quite a rush, but doable). So I never bothered to spend extra time on 1 star items for Red Scrips. In contrast, whenever I get 1 star items, I focus on either quantity or quality for sale and/or 2 star crafting purposes. To me, that's a better use of my time.
From what I have heard, the 1 star stuff for red scrips can be done. But even with 650 GP, you will likely end up with a gathering rate of 85% only (because 600 GP spent on the collectable rotation, and only 50 GP left to add 5% gathering rate, bringing 80% to 85%). You will likely have 2 to 3 chances of collecting, and if you miss 1, then it's not really worth the time, imo. But this is just my personal point of view.
However, maybe if you have the Minekeeper's Axe and the i170 offhands, the rate will be much higher, then it may be worth you time.
GOLDEN TIP! Waymarks are particularly important for things like VOID NUTS, which I get lost sometimes! Thanks for the input!Favor node tips you might consider adding, Caimie:

I shall try the changing of colors as well. I sometimes have a lot of friends gathering at the Adam Ore node, so the orange might overlap with the orange of my friends' names, but I shall try another color. Thanks again!

Yeah, this is what I've being doing as well...those morels tho, I always think I won't make it in time lolUnfortunately, I cannot answer your question with 100% confident. Anyway, yesterday I decided to try myself so I melded my equip. My stats (food included, that is NQ Dzemael Gratin which can be bought for 457 gil at the Jeweled Crozier) are 647 Gathering, 658 Perception and 657 GP. First, legendary nodes for botanist appear at 5 and 7 pm, for miner at 5 and 7 am and this is true for every legendary node for the respective gatherer. So you can still follow your old schedule and add 1 star items.
Now, I tried a very simple rotation to collect a 1 star item with high enough collectability: (DE + Impulsive) x3 (600 total GP) and then 2 chances at collect. With 658 perception I reached 468 collectability, that is 2 points lower than the minimum requirement. When collecting, I passed the 470 threshold thanks to the bonus.
Also, I discovered something that I haven't read anywere: when building collectability (or maybe also when normally gathering from legendary nodes, not sure about that) for 1* items, there's a chance that a bonus appears: your next action will have reduced GP cost. I was able to save 50 GP thanks to that, so I was left with more than 100 GP and I could use sharp vision II to get to 95% success rate for collect, which is not bad. So I was able to collect 2 items worth 15 scrips each, 18 with the bonus. I plan to try again next week to see if it's worth it, but atm my opinion is that it would be a good idea to gather collectable 1* items when they have the star for red scrips bonus. You can basically cut the time you spend gathering for red scrips by half if you don't fail too many times at 80-95%.
UPDATE: I've just tried again and I can confirm the following:
1) the reduced GP cost bonus is only for collectable actions when gathering from legendary nodes, it's -50 GP for the next collectable action only and it probably procs with a 20-30% probability (sample is still too small, needs further investigation);
2) Collectability cap for single appraisal actions is much higher than it is for Chysahl Greens and Adamantite Ores, so further increasing perception is a good idea: using Landtrap Salad HQ my Perception is 671, which resulted in 495 collectability after 3x(DE+impulsive), 509 after collecting the item for 2 successful collects (each worth 16 scrips or a little more if there's the star bonus). Of course more sophisticated rotations will surely yield better results.
To conclude, with high enough stats using legendary nodes to make the red scrips grind faster is actually possible. "High enough stats" means having around 650 gathering (to uncover the item with one hit), 660 perception and 650+ gp and those are easily achievable using melded equip, ilvl 180 gear (or a combination of the two) and food.

It's not always -50GP. I have had a -150GP bonus.
We made a Weighted Adamantite Sledgehammer for my wife late last night. We haven't checked the effect of it's stats boost on the collectability of Legendary nodes yet but we will soon. It did raise her gathering chance on Legendary nodes 2% to 84%.

Thanks for the info. Did you get an idea of the probability of this proc?It's not always -50GP. I have had a -150GP bonus.

I use the folklore nodes for gathering red scrips because it removes that much more time that I don't have to be doing that nonsense each week. I've had all of the folklore books unlocked since just before 3.07 so it makes sense for me to do that also, I just haven't because of the stats issue.
This changed when I made both the miner and botanist i170 off-hand bringing my gathering to 716 and perception to 702 (the perception is the most important part I feel, as 690/700 or so is where the cap for appraisals is for 1-star)
Since I started doing them two weeks ago, I've generally had a reduced GP action proc once every time I did the node, anywhere from -50 to -200, meaning I'd have at least 100 gp left over out of my 650 GP.
Interesting! I should give this a try then! Thanks, guys!![]()
