    If you use intelligent thought, and take the quotes that were kindly copied and given, you could start to form a safe assumption as to where the game will be going.     What gets me is you'd rather know all these specifics regarding the direction, when you were just arguing immersion in another thread. Isn't the point to um... not know these things and watch them unfold?
    As someone said, FFXIV is not very feature-rich. FFXIV has like no features. We don't need to know the details of the story and have it spoiled for us, but we would like to know in what guise the lore will be told to us or how it will play (large scale PvE, siege warfare, PvP, dynamic quest chains, sandbox features, player run companies, naval battles, swimming, blah blah blah), and also why they are implementing these features over other features (i.e., what is the design philosophy behind the game and what do they think will make a good MMO that will compete in today's market).

    Gosh, you act like we asked what's the meaning of life or something.

    Yeah very atypical, with it's horrible, laggy UI, tedious crafting system, wide empty worlds, cheap questing system(guildleves), boring story, terrible battle system (pre 1.18), unoptimized game engine, and unfriendly market system. I guess the only thing that was kinda unique about XIV was the Armoury system and even then it wasn't needed in this game because everyone can play every class. If this game was like WoW where you could have only one class, then the armoury system could have been something where you picked skills from other classes to build your own unique class.

    Read the quotes, read between the lines. You'll get the best semblance of a vision that you can get. It's right there, that's not all that's to it. I'm not going to paraphrase him for you. You get it straight from the horses mouth. Look deeper. I'm not going to do all the work for you.

    what user just said again lol, will we see party play in our missions an story like ffxi, will there ever be full 8man party grinds again. they spoke pvp but what it will be like? prior it would of been thought to not be a big thing in it, maybe mini games, but the direction in weak content might have them think they need to make up for it in better pvp like in other fail pve games. course i'm looking forward to hamlets, ...that we still know not much about but that is already on way. do they really need to keep us in suspense, ...we are playing a game that we bought and failed launch ...we still playing and waiting, there is no need for the antics ...just tell us ..i don't need a thread every week little by little or any of that, just lay it out.... who sits on forums all day when a game launches right? no one, i never was on a forum a day in life for ffxi or any mmo after. stop pussyfooting around and just give it to us.

    Letter from the Producer. They come out on almost a bi weekly basis. Read them. Poor over old ones. You'll find your answers. They won't be definite but they're the best you can get. Also read the 4gamer interviews and the Gamasutra interview. You can then start pinning a philosophy on his style then you'll get an idea, while fuzzy, of his vision.

    You need to do the legwork.

    You don't know this and he said they'd have the foundations laid out by this summer. He even gave you a list of things that would be done by this summer. C'mon.

    I wonder what Tanaka's vision for this game was? Did he even have one? I guess it was to create an even bigger time sink than FFXI and to keep people playing as less as possible.

    Call it what you will, all these things are necessary when adding content, but also when making changes to preexisting content too.
