You can expect a trailer like with every other content patch for the sake of building up hype. These live letters are sneak previews of bits of in-development content, not a full patch preview. Only a couple thousand people watch these live letters, as opposed to the hundreds of thousands that watch the official patch previews they do. We KNOW new story quests, relics, Vanu Vanu dailies and other stuff are coming, all of which are likely to be teased in an official 3.1 trailer.

I mean look at the alternative: They could have revealed absolutely nothing until the official trailer.

At this point, they effectively have revealed nothing new. Last time we got a preview on LoV, exploratory airships, void ark and a glance look at some weapons, and the new dungeons. Liveletter they...previewed LoV, exploratory airships and void ark, only they added developmental footage which showed nothing out of the ordinary.

No extra details on relic, primal, or any other changes they were planning to add in. Sure they onyl had one hour, but that made it even more important to use their time wisely instead of telling us things we already know.

I'd imagine the idea is they don't want to show us everything just yet, as it's still a month and a half away, there's no point in getting the hype machine in full swing just yet. The Hiroshima FATE is likely where we will see the trailer and other new stuff, and it's not exactly like thats too far away from now.

Well it depends on the circumstances. People are already feeling the effects of burn out since we're in a content desert out of release, now would've been a better time than ever to keep players interested or start preparing for what 3.1 gives (such as motivation to level my side classes, getting X done, etc etc)

They are related to topics we've been talking about for a long time, but we have been given new, important information that effectively changes the outlook on the content previously revealed.

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned a long while back just what sort of things exploratory voyages would go over, such as using your FC ship, entering as a full alliance, it not being instanced, and hunting notorious monsters. Void Ark they'd go over drop rules, party compositions, all of which are givens since it's a Ct-styled content. From my end, it's retelling us what we already know because I already expected these sort of things based on the previous preview they have already given us or stray developer comments in the forums.
