Random note, but who at SE thought early November was a good date to release 3.1? Fallout 4, Star Wars Battlefront 3, Halo 5 and Rise of the Tomb Raider. I'd think they'd have trouble competing against Fallout 4 alone (let's face it, if someone unsubs now there's a good chance they're not going to resub when Fallout 4 hits within a week of 3.1), but all of those other games too? Fallout 4 is a Bethesda game and those last me hundreds of hours, and that's before mods.

I know someone is going to go "but not all FFXIV players are interested in Fallout", and you're right, but I wouldn't be surprised if a huge amount were. This is going to be the being release of 2015 by a long shot (I'm a huge Witcher fanboy and can see that).

None of those games are MMOs. People mostly unsubscribe from MMOs when a new and/or better MMO comes out. People will not unsubscribe to play these new games. They'll simply not log on for a few days at most.

No, they're games, and games are a form of entertainment. People leave their entertainment when it stops being entertaining for something more entertaining, for example, all the other games I've listed. And a few days? People are accusing people for rushing through 3.0 when it's been out for 3 months, Fallout 4 will have more than double the content Heavensward provides, and that's without the grind. If you finish that in a few days you are rushing through it faster than you're taking it in.

The majority of people won't unsubscribe from FFXIV because the mentioned games coming out are not MMOs. All I am saying is that they won't unsubscribe. I'm not trying to make any other point.

Perhaps that's exactly how SE justified it; "Fallout 4 is a Bethesda game, it'll be buggy as hell and nigh-on unplayable for a month or two!". Star Wars Battlefront has been chewed up by EA and is a crippled shade of its former self at this point, Battlefield fans may like it, but fans of the original Battlefronts are already disappointed... Can't talk about Tomb Raider or Halo 5 (which has the unwinnable (IMO) battle of being a Xbone exclusive and turning around Halo 4s utter meh-ity), because my interest in them was never there to begin with.

I'll still be playing the crap out of Fallout 4 though, but... Is that going to be an issue? I'm currently playing the crap out of New Vegas in sweet sweet anticipation... It's not getting in the way of Esoterics/Scrips, so I can't see 4 doing so either. I am going to have to wait a while for Fallout 4s many bugs to be fixed, so I'm likely to be stopping by the Gold Saucer for some Lord of Verminion when I hit my 6th crash to desktop within 10 minutes of playing 4...

You missed Legacy of the Void!

I concur, it is odd the amount of great games launching at the exact same time (well in this case a patch).

November seems too far for me really. October is too far. It really needed to keep with the 3 month cycle and launch mid-late September. I get they needed vacation, but did the ENTIRE team take vacation at the SAME time? I've never seen a business do this. I personally cannot take vacation at the same time as someone else in my department, nevermind the entire office. I'm also fairly certain if I told my boss that our department got a report out to a client 2 months later than normal because we all went on vacation, we'd probably be fired.

They're giving us less content than they've set an expectation for via having the patch delayed, yet we are paying more (sub still + cost of expansion). So, to me, the vacation excuse is pretty lame rather than warranted. I feel that I've had the services that I am paying for be misrepresented, and that discourages me from continuing supporting to support the devs. I'm also very bored of the game, and that discourages me from continuing to support the game.

TBH this just couples with the fact that I thought 3.0 was when they were making things interesting, but instead they're staying with the same "basic" formula. I quoted basic, because that is what Yoshi said himself. 2.0 was to get the "basics" and 3.0 and beyond would make it interesting. It's not.

So yes. Likely, SE will lose my business to Legacy of the Void and Fallout 4, and possibly F2P Wildstar.

this game is getting so boring. No more solid reasons to login and pay sub.

See you in November then. No harm no foul.

It kinda makes the wait feel a bit easier for me, as it is like waiting for a new series of a TV show, lol.
This is... exactly how I view it, actually. Although I was referencing the initial expansion more along the lines of movies that punctuate seasons.

I just don't understand the reason why if a person says that is getting bored people start writing "stop saying it's boring just don't play until november".
    You know, people have... opinions.

    There is an old saying.

Opinions are like bumholes. Everyone has one, nobody wants to be told theirs stinks.

If you're bored, stop playing. Complain if you wish but to expect that it accomplishes much more than annoying your peers the way you present it is rather inconsiderate of others, at best. This is why you receive backlash.

This line of complaints are not unique to FFXIV in any respect, and I do have a firm, yet respectful stance that no one source should ever be responsible for all of or the majority of one's entertainment. It taxes the content creators too much and, in my opinion, lowers the quality of the content.

So yes, I mean no offense, but patience is a virtue here. I've been using this time in the meanwhile to catch up on other games in my pile of shame or that I've just had a desire to revisit. I would recommend for you to do the same.

I'm not offended by your opinion, I just disagree, and speculate that there's little to be done about it. Therefore, see you in November.
