Well, that settles it. You're just gullible.I am by no means insinuating the game is perfect. It has it's flaws, sure. But it did not get 5 million subscribers for no reason. That is more subs than XI ever had in it's entire lifespan already and only 600k subs below WoW currently. The game is doing bloody well for itself considering what was handed to him to fix from 1.0.

5 million accounts =/= 5 million subscribers. XIV actually has around 600k-700k subscribers, which is around the same as XI had during its peak or so and XI held a good 500k for years.

His wiki only state "He then talked with the individual developers to find out their ideas for improvements to the revised version known as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn"
Though it is true I was not there for 1.0 and only ever played the trial. The rest of it I followed via various gaming media sites such as IGN, Gamespot and various other sources including a number of SE's own press releases. Also his official credits still only say he came in at ARR, so you know that's what I had to work with.
Thanks for your patronizing and rather ugly response though...Jesus.
Oh was it accounts? I could have sworn it was subs, I guess WoW is in a similar boat then?

What you need to understand is, accounts are registered, regardless if they are active with recurring payments and active playtime. Some of these are from 1.0, cause obviously, they still carry on to 2.0 and beyond. So, if i were to cancel my subscription, my account would still be registered and accounted for in their "5 million registered players" as SE has stated.

Well I appreciate the correction from a legacy player. As I said in my previous post I was going off the info I had. Though no where in your cited links does it state he was credited as Producer/Director before ARR which was why I was confused. Not sure what you're attitude is all about though...
Ah ok so it's more of a marketing strategy from SE to say "look at these numbers" kind of thing? What you need to understand is, accounts are registered, regardless if they are active with recurring payments and active playtime. How can you hear me over the internet and my voice with my text? Lol I am seriously laughing, not at you...but just the things you are saying, its very naïve (again, not a bad thing...) but you do seem like a very nice person, I don't want you to think I am being a jerk, not my intention. But for real, Yoshida did work on 1.x and yea what Jondi said about the registered accounts..that's how it works.Well I appreciate the correction from a legacy player. Basically, Tanaka got the boot in Dec. Yoshida got promoted..and Yoshida and his team worked on 1.x since Dec 2010, until they took it down for 2.0 alpha testing in September 2012. So they were technically working on two games at once..quite impressive I must say. So if anything they def deserve credit for that. I dunno how else to more explain it >.<
They released patches like umm...here is a link to one:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...tch-1.20-Notes
and a link to an old Letter from the Producer from Yoshida: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...IV-(07-20-2011)
See the dates and stuff?![]()
Pretty much. In regards to not being credited for 1.XX, it's like that cause, he only took control of the game after the fact. They have no obligation to put his name in something where the base was created by someone else. When he started the letters, it was when he was working with 1.0 stuff, as well as keeping the players updatd with any progress between his work . Which was great, cause it gave the players a look into what is going on and what will happen in the future. At the moment, it just seems he's being hesitant, cause what he did with the game in the beginning worked so well and is scared that any new ideas put into the game might ruin his work. In this case works like a double edged sword. now people are fed up with seeing the same formula being repeated after the expansion seemed to give hope that there would be new types of content.

Well I apologize if you genuinely did not mean to come off that way, however that is the way it read to me.How can you hear me over the internet and my voice with my text? I should say though that I was no at no point trying to argue with you when discussing my knowledge of the pre-2.0 days. I was just putting down what I knew of the situation, and when wrong open to being corrected. I remember I followed the story as best as I could at the time as I was in two minds about whether to buy the game and subscribe or not despite the negative feedback about it. So obviously I never had access to the forums and what not at the time. So to me it only appeared as though he was only credited until the release of ARR, since as you can see on his wiki entry as the first FF related thing on his credits.
My point wasn't meant to be about when Yoshi started work though, but more so he is far from being in a position where he should hand over the reigns to someone else. Despite the current issues the game has, it is a far cry from the state it was originally in it seems.
Ah ok see this is why I was confused when Iromi and others were citing 1.0, as no where in any other media source has it stated he worked on it before 2.0. The topic got a little derailed there though. My point was to say he has done so much for this game in so little time that it is too soon to say he should hand over the reigns.Pretty much. People doesn`t have time for that anymore, balacing diferent game styles, gear sets, calculation of stats and resistances, thats from time pasts from developers perspective... So here, enjoy a 3 months grind in near everything... Damn, they managed to make chocobo races and triple triad a grind... xD
