For all you people telling the players who are bored and asking for new content to quit:
If everyone quits, the game dies.
Logic 101.

Sample size. I can use your argument against you. So the handful of people who are arguing that the game is fun is everyone? Ergo, the game is actually only populated by a few hundred people.

For all the people who use the "if you don't like it, quit" argument to this sort of topic..
We don't quit because we believe in this game's potential. FFXIV has got to be the most graphically gorgeous game that is on the market. The world is absolutely beautiful. The music is generally amazing. The story is incredible.
I love FFXIV. But damnit, I'm sick of all the "new content" being different versions of the old content. The dungeon model used in this game is old, and stale, and boring. Does it matter what the next dungeon is going to be? Probably not. Why? Because it's (likely) going to be pull some trash, fight a boss, pull some trash, fight a boss. SE is capable of more, because they've already demonstrated it with FFXI. That's why we expect more.
This game has massive potential that isn't being capitalized on because it has fallen into a repetitive cycle of releasing dungeons and raids that are rehashed versions of the same things we already have. We vocalize our misgivings because we want developers to hear us and perhaps act on what we are saying.

Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~
Every single game, movie, idea, etc ever has potential. I dare say, massive potential. Your saying that means next to nothing, when you really stop to think about it. I think everyone can agree about having a desire for variety. The reality though is that they want to create something different from FFXI, at least where possible. That's not easy to do. When you're late to the "game" that is development, unique ideas take time to not only obviously finish creating, but to even come up with plausibly. Even if they wanted to take in the time or loot system, it's not that simple. You need to develop that into the server/systems, you need to create the story, the art, the loot, the mobs, the way players interact with it, etc. None of that is a simple task that can be accomplished in a matter of days. Planning can sometimes take just as long, if not longer, than the actual creation process that follows. If you've ever worked in a department of a large corporation, you'll also know that you sometimes need to go through multiple channels to get an OK or whatever for a go-ahead on something. That uncommonly happens within a day.For all the people who use the "if you don't like it, quit" argument to this sort of topic..

Now, that's not to say I don't agree with you on some things. I firmly believe that they are aware of a need for variation, but have to also commit to already-planned content that uses that repetitive cycle. The best they can do, in that light, is to alter boss mechanics, which is what it feels like they're stuck on when it comes to "variety". There's also the need to consider that combat is far from the only form of content they have to develop. While you might be crying about a need of combat variety, others are crying about other things, such as crafting, housing, and vertical gear progression. While the sky might seem to be falling for you and those other folks in various areas, it doesn't mean its falling for everyone else... at least not so quickly to assume panic is needed.
There is actually a quite large consensus concerning the shortcomings of the game.
As you can see in this reddit topic : https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...ring_game_and/ , the main rebutal is like 378 upvote strong.
Thats still a handful of people (vocal minority) though 378 people agree the games stale out of 82446 on the Subreddit. There is actually a quite large consensus concerning the shortcomings of the game.

It is called sampling (especially amongst people who still care about the game to be vocal, who many don't even care enough anymore to even post ?).
Also most people who don't see the shortcoming of the game are actually either 1) new players who are still leveling, or didn't experience the 2.0 2) ultra casuals who play the game to glamour their gear while doing gardening in their FC house.
Nobody in their right mind would defend the game design choices made in FFXIV (especially regarding fates or lack of content at level 60, I m saying content, not stuff to grind on the same tiny scrap of content).
So, hypothetically speaking, if the developers came here to defend the design choices they made, they're just crazy and need to leave?
I'm not defending them, mind, just asking a question.
