It's never stopped being an issue for EU players. Since 1.0 Server side delay still exists for both, but atleast for NA players changing server location from JP to canada reduced latency. For EU, canada/JP is pretty much the same thing (depending on where you live)
I just dodge as quickly as possible, so stuff doesn't hit me. :/
Delay is only really noticable when using more than one oGCD skill in one GCD, opening doors in dungeons, calling a retainer, stuff like that. Dodging aoe circles is not an issue.
That's the thing. YOU HAVE TO! You can't do close plays because you have to dodge as soon as the indicator appears, even though the cast should still go for long enough. And sometimes you just can't do that, because of other reasons. And that's where delay gives issues.
I'm a twitch (I believe that's what they call it these days). I also play a caster. See I can't help but notice it with everything I do. The ability clipping is really absurd.
Question: why do you think FFXIV has such a large global cooldown to begin with?
Sometimes it allows for some downright cheating as well. Whenever there's a telegraphed knockback effect I can cast Cure III after the knockback, but it will still heal all of the group (despite now being out of range). That's the thing. YOU HAVE TO! I'm always amused by that one.

Exactly since I play a healer it's annoying Titan on hard, Dodged. I see the animation I am on the opposite area, boom I get thrown in the pit. That's the thing. YOU HAVE TO! Three tips for helping with the dodging issue:
1. If you are on Windows, google Leatrix's Latency Fix (confirmed works on Windows 10 even)
2. If you have an instant cast ability, e.g. you are a black mage with Scathe, toss that ability or spell as soon as you exit the AOE. This forces the server to update your position.
3. If you don't have an instant cast ability or it's not up for non-mages, make a hard right turn and run parallel to whatever it was you were dodging (e.g. run alongside the landslide.) The act of turning in another direction forces the server to acknowledge you changed positions. If you just keep running in a straight line, the server doesn't know you've moved because the client won't bother sending a notice until you've gone a certain distance. The directional change forces the update immediately.
As for the EU Data center move, I suspect it will only be Chaos data center servers affected by the long maintenance.
Thanks for the tips Catwho ;-)
This explains why I always get hit by AOE when I move left then right inside an AOE (for example when I notice I won't make it to the left)
Although I never really notice lag on avoiding AOE but on interactions like FC chest (the horror...), or of-GCD skills (it's a pain to miss Rouse or Spur before Enkindle...)
