Also lorewise the immunity to primal temper go bck to the echo, which have lorewise many people.

    1. A Padjal get chosen by the Elementals
    2. To get chosen, the Elementals have to see you to be worth for it (if you have a pure soul or so)
    3. You have to be a Hyur in the age of a teen
    4. You have to be born in Gidania

Alone point 4 say the the player can't be a Padjal, because an adventure isn't born in the city where he start.
My intention was not to start a debate since I believe the points you ignored are strong enough. But allow me to defend the others I provided.

-They are not their own race but they have characteristics that, let's face it, make them -very- different from normal Hyurs.
-As for the Echo, I beg you to differ. The Echo is the ''power to break the barriers of existence'' and seems to surprise many NPCs in the universe of FF14. Not many people have it I assure you.
-The Warrior of Light is chosen by Hydaelyn AND Midgardsomr as their champion. Two primeval beings whose judgement far surpass those of the Elementals in my opinion.
-Your character's age is unknown so it can be anything.
-Your character arrives from ''somewhere'' and has travelled the land. Nothing says you weren't born in one of the major cities. It is up to the player to decide.

It's not a poor argument, it's the lore that SE has set. Your argument on the other hand is "lore has been broken in this game before, why does it matter if it's done again?" which I consider to be a poor argument. Why not just let players become an Ascian while we're at it, or a pure-blood Garlean?
I fail to understand the first part of your argument as in contradicts itself and I mean no offence. Races are vital to gameplay too and classes are just as important lorewise. Go check the White Mage quest. You are literally supposed to be the only white mage in the world outside the Padjal race yet other player characters in the world are openly white mage. That alone is breaking your own lore thus making the argument invalid since it has been done countless times without any questioning.

A game or story creator has no limits to what he can do since a fantasy world can be bent and modified at will and people will accept whatever you choose to do with your world because you are its god. If the devs didn't make the Padjals playable, it's because they don't want it to be or can't due to technical reasons. Lore is never a problem unless its world changing which is not the case with the inclusion of a race like the Padjals. Look at the au ra for exemple. Their inclusion in the world is odd yet people still accept it as fact and don't question it because the devs words are law.

That is probably the only reason why the Padjals are unplayable. This ends the debate for me.

No offence taken, but I don't believe races are vital to gameplay as they don't affect how an encounter is played or anything of the like. You don't go around looking for a midlander Monk when recruiting for your static, you look for a Monk of any race. If you can prove that races are somehow vital to gameplay, then fine I'll accept it, but as it is they're not from what my experience. Races are a visual thing, similar to glamour (I think they provide racial bonuses, but those are incredibly miniscule). I already covered that in my post, but yeah they've broken the lore before but that doesn't mean it should be done again. There's no workaround for that, it's either they made everyone the WoL and everyone a Paladin/White Mage/Ninja or whatever and suffer from the issue plaguing WoW where you're an unimportant character (I'm sure no one wants that), or just kept it so they're just adventurers and you're the "chosen one".

And no, lore junkies don't just accept anything that the developers choose to modify after they've already been set. Take a look at WoW's forums, you see people complaining about the messed up lore they've got now, how they should just scrap it all and if Warcraft 4 were to happen just continue on from Warcraft 3 like WoW never happened. A lot don't care sure (but that's because a lot couldn't care less about the lore), but the people that care for the lore will.

As for them being kids, yeah that's obviously a problem. I'm surprised they got away with skimpily dressed Lalafells as is, they use the "they're actually old but look young" excuse, but that's frequently used in Japanese media (anime especially) and yes I hear people going to jail for having suggestive media of 500 year old vampire children-things. I guess it's because they resemble potatoes more than children.

Then why want you work for the Elementals?

The rest of the universe could name you their champion, but if the Elementals are not interested, it wont help.

Their underdeveloped face, or really anything about their bodies. The middle-left one looks like a child to me honestly, it's just their potato torsos that make them look different.

Nanamo or Teledji don't look like children to me though, it just depends on how you make 'em look.
