I think the original reason is as simple as the fact that so many people have already hit level 50. That and the fact that they'll have the lion's share worth of glamors available to them.

I personally agree that the level restriction should be loosened, and it should allow anyone of level 15 or higher to glamor their gear. The arguments people have listed against it are unbelievably silly, and probably more an attempt to play devils advocate than any real attempt at making a good point. After all, once you've got at least one level 50 character, there's nothing to stop you using glamor on your level 15 newbie gear for your next job, is there?

It hurts no one, has no impact on gameplay other than cosmetics and there are really no good arguments as to why it should remain a level 50 privilege.

Well, because it is a privilege. A privilege you get once you hit 50. This also isn't GW2.

While I can't think of any good reasons glamouring itself is unlocked at level 50, actually making the prisms is a master recipe which does need a high level crafter to attempt. This could have been the deciding factor in setting the level of glamouring, it's hard to know without being a dev. Either way, getting to level 50 is practically handed to you now, what with all the experience boosts old quests have gotten. I haven't tried it but I wouldn't be surprised if you could get to level 51 before you remember to do the glamour quest.

But this isnt life..it is a pretend world.

I never seen the reason behind it, it certainly was not the lure to level a 50...I wasted far more gil on pets then glamour would have ever cost.
I hated looking the way I did along the way, which again didn't encourage me to level, it actually turned me off of it for a long time lol

We all see things differently though. That's cool, everyones opinion is just that, an opinion.

If they ever decided to lower it (which they wont though..it is se afterall ^^) I would fully support it.

No, it's a game competing with gw2. Lowering the glam level is just that much more to help attract and keep new players.

If the only thing keeping a player playing FF over GW was being able to keep your class specific equipment glamoured over your low level dungeon loot, then you were prooobably going to inevitably be leaving soon anyhoo. I'm also not necessarily disagreeing with you, I'm just saying that the topic is a lot less dire and a whole lot more "Who even cares?"

When I was lv 15 on my first character I didn't have enough for the cheapest glamour prism on the market(okay glamours didn't exist then, but lets ignore that). Don't know if there is a reason the devs choose to make it lv 50, but either way I'm pretty sure most lv15 newbies don't care because they can't afford it.

While I wouldn't mind glamour unlocked earlier, even though Glam Prisms are relatively expensive for a new player, getting to lvl 50 with the new EXP amounts given by the MSQ takes like a month of casual play, or something like that.

There's no reason to glamour that early because you'll replace the gear in less than an hour most of the time.

Sometimes, sure. It's still nice to have though. I personally glamored a lot of my low level gear when I was leveling new jobs, since I can craft any of the necessary prisms myself. It's nice to be unique instead of looking like every other low level job when you join that dungeon run.

At any rate, I don't think they'll be changing the restriction any time soon, but I would certainly be happy if it ever happened.
