I don't mind them. I look forward to Thursday because I can begin working on whatever gear I've targeted for the week. Are the tasks to reach that goal somewhat tedious and mundane? Yeah I guess. So are expert roulettes on the same 2 dungeons in my opinion. So is progression raiding. I wonder why I play MMOs period where rewards are typically vastly outweighed by boring/frustrating tedium more than anything. But yet here I am. To your point though, I guess it's one more boring compulsory task on top of the rest that wasn't there before. I still prefer it to tome capping and, oftentimes, raiding. At least I can do it within the week on my own schedule.

I am suffering burnout from all the gathering... specifically getting the red scripts in the first place (sooo dumb and tedious with the stupid timers)... and then dealing with the idiotic RNG on favors. Today I started off with two grabs of five.. and then one..... one.... one..... two.... one.... one... I started getting really... really frustrated at that point.

That I'm sick of... so very bad. Its just too time consuming and frustrating at the same time. I have to be in a really good mood to do the gathering due to these annoyances.

Yeah I put on tunes or am on mumble shouting wahoo every time a node pops and often cursing the twelve. I have a bit of superstition if I have two favors with really bad RNG 2 or less I stop gathering or switch zones. Gotta keep the grind on a happy note. (Sitting on 200 favors ATM, #lalatortise)

First off your wasting your time on Favors, don't even bother with those. If you set up a route correctly your not waiting for timers at all on scrips.

I'm a pure crafter, the only reason I have gathering classes is because I need the Favors lol ;-)

I craft these days simply since there isn't anything else to do in game while chatting with ppl outside of raids.

There are so many ways the I can see SE screw over crafters who have invested into their AF2.

They can, for example, make a new tier of scrips (similar to combat classes), so the current red scrip items will become blues.

Or maybe they will release an artisan set as early as 3.1.

Or perhaps new recipes will once again be gated and very cost prohibitive or just worthless (see current tier of 180 gear).

As it is right now, there are crafters who have invested tens of millions of gil into their AF2: How many piece of gear they have to sell before the investment is justifiable?

Crafters who are trying to earn back their investment with upcoming 2*/3* crafts will just engage in this huge undercutting war which, at the end the day, makes it hard to get the motivation.

HW seem to favor gatherers over crafters for someone who is in it for the gil imo.

Easy to say if you dont craft. As for not waiting for timers, you always have to. Time must progress real fast if you are never waiting for timers with red scrips.
Maybe its different if you have fishing or something, but few people do.

Tens? More like hundreds of millions. It's been a couple weeks since I last looked at it and said, "F that," but IIRC, each piece of equipment takes 2-4 turn-ins worth of the new materials. Each turn-in takes 10 Ooids. Last I checked, those were selling for 150k a pop on the MB. So that is like 3-6M just in Ooids per piece (unless the prices tanked recently). Since each class has separate stuff, this would run into the hundreds of millions.

As for the equipment that you need/want top level equipment to craft, that stuff is borderline unsellable. There is another thread complaining that no one is buying at 10-15mil a pop for that equipment. The raw materials are simply too expensive and the finished product not useful enough. In my assessment, it is currently not possible to produce a positive return for the investment necessary to get top tier crafting equipment.

Just a side note, for those who will say their gear didn't cost that much because they gathered their own Ooids, I have two words for you: "opportunity costs." Had you chosen to sell your Ooids, you would have that much more in the bank, so that needs to be included in the analysis from a business perspective.

This, so much this. I run into a lot of folks who don't seem to realize that if it costs me X amount of gil to gear a crafter when I don't gather, it costs a gatherer the *same* amount of gil because they aren't selling the materials when they do gather them (in addition to the time they spent that I didn't spend).

I'm also facing serious burnout on the system. I've been making my MHs now as my offhands are finished and soon to be on chest pieces if I even bother anymore. However as I see it there isn't really any point in this gear as in my melded basic HQ 60 set I could craft everything the game has to offer and same for gathering. I'm also still using old level 50 1star accessories on my gathering profs as I can gather everything out there currently. The favor system sucks as it takes so much time gathering enough favor mats. Time on gathering the red scripts to gather the favor mats. Then time but especially lots of mats to craft the stuff for the craft favor mats. Then ontop of everything else we can't even begin to meld our gear to be top notch as V's aren't out yet for crafting and gathering. I'm also not into wanting to be ultra rich as really nothing to buy and it just becomes a drag.
