Tens? More like hundreds of millions. It's been a couple weeks since I last looked at it and said, "F that," but IIRC, each piece of equipment takes 2-4 turn-ins worth of the new materials. Each turn-in takes 10 Ooids. Last I checked, those were selling for 150k a pop on the MB. So that is like 3-6M just in Ooids per piece (unless the prices tanked recently). Since each class has separate stuff, this would run into the hundreds of millions.

As for the equipment that you need/want top level equipment to craft, that stuff is borderline unsellable. There is another thread complaining that no one is buying at 10-15mil a pop for that equipment. The raw materials are simply too expensive and the finished product not useful enough. In my assessment, it is currently not possible to produce a positive return for the investment necessary to get top tier crafting equipment.

Just a side note, for those who will say their gear didn't cost that much because they gathered their own Ooids, I have two words for you: "opportunity costs." Had you chosen to sell your Ooids, you would have that much more in the bank, so that needs to be included in the analysis from a business perspective.
