    This is the feeling I'm getting. With HW so far it seems to be the case of one step forward, two steps back. I'd not agree that it's dead. The good news is there's still plenty of leaf marked players running about so the game continues to appeal to new people.

    We have an expansion but now it feels like there's less to do.
    PVP - We have 1 new game mode which is a great thing, however, because of restrictions we've kind of lost 2. So instead of 3 varied games we're stuck with 1.
    Crystal Towers - People had reasons to do these weekly. This was a huge chunk of game time which has now vanished.
    Alexander - I haven't touched this myself, but it feels people don't care as much about it as they did with Coil so something has gone wrong here.
    Hunting - The old Marks are just to fill time now. The new S Ranks reset hours are insanely long, we've gone from 17 useful S Ranks every 2-4 days to 6 useful S Ranks every 5-7 days. Even the spawning conditions aren't as fun (not that the old ones were but they seemed to be a great social activity).
    Levelling (this one is just me)- Because of the huge amounts of EXP required to level this feels more of a chore than ever before. I'd love to have a level 60 whm for PVP but I really can't bring myself to do it. Fate parties are a rare thing in some of the new areas too, so even if I wanted that option it'd be tough to find because things take years to die as a solo WHM.

    Overall there're probably enough things to do if you want 100% completion, there's just not much fun to be found in them. That being said, the community is still strong and that's more than enough for me to pay my sub.

    Oh, but if you haven't seen the fireworks from that Ship you can go to in Costa Del Sol, check it out, they look awesome from there.

    It is not an issue of "No Content I want to do", it is an issue of "No Content Worth Doing".

    The problem with XIV is the core design of the content.

    Dungeon Gear => Crafting Gear => Entree Level Token Gear => Crafting Gear with Melds => Primal Weapons => Entree Level Raid Gear (normal / Easy Mode) => High Level Token => Upgraded HLT gear = Endgame Raid (Savage)

    Want to fix the problem. Get rid of that tiered garbage. Issue is once you are at the end of the above... there is 2 things worth doing (Daily dungeon and Savage). IF all content was relevant then there is absurd amount of stuff to do for everyone. Right now there is only alot worth doing for achievement hunters.

    Example. You know those primal drops. (Ravana's Wings). Well combine that with crafting + rare drop from normal Alex. Make the gear equivalent to other gear at high end tiers.

    So say a Ilvl200 crafted something (NOT THE WHOLE SET cause that would remove the need to do other content) but say some accessories or a belt.

    You now made old content WORTH running besides tokens/vanity and involved crafting in relevant endgame. + and +.

    I feel the people who say that there's "so much content to do" and that they "haven't run out of content yet" only play for 30 mins to maybe an hour ish a day, when some of us, even with work and school, can still play for a good 4-5 hours a day

    i don't think it's dead.but it sure as hell is boring right now.
    after i quit with 2.2, i came back shortly after the HW release to see if the direction of the game & content has changed, but it still feels like the game is heading into the same direction as it did with Coil & CT before.just that it'll most likely be the new 24 man raid and alexander.
    i'm not a big fan of alexander, it's short, it's boring, and i don't see the reason to get equipment from there if i don't plan on playing the same boring dungeon in hard mode anyways.the new ex-primals are nice, but also pretty much lost their flair with 180 ilvl token weapons and 200ilvl weapons.

    regardless of what people think of FFXI, it handled content just the way it should have been done.instead of killing off old content with new one, they tried to balance it out and make everything worthwhile.and on top of that it was also interesting content.
    i don't understand why yoshi isn't looking more at how content was previously made in FFXI (which is basically an in house game, and i'm sure the FFXI devs would share their experience) rather than other games.

    i guess for now i'll cap my pvp rank, since that is pretty much all i do besides a few ravana ex now and then with friends untill 3.1 hits.
    but i guess the new raid won't hold me for long aswell, so i'll probably unsubscribe at some point again untill a way later patch or a new games catches my interest.

    I'm on the game 12+ hours some days and I haven't even come close to running out of things to do.

    Hardcore raiders generally dont have the time to commit to 2 star crafting, so they write it off. Which is certainly not the same as "no content" for them to actually attempt.

    The only people I know who do both are very good at time management, and very good at their jobs. There is no boredom involved, I assure you.

    Playing 2-3 hours on average per day I'd say, not close to running out of things to do either.

You must either be taking everything at a snail's pace or choosing not to do the content >_> lol 12+ hours a day and you can go from 50-60 in 3-5 days depending on your job, you can fully finish every single sidequest with your first 60. Crafting/gathering leves can get those to 60 in a day or two and alex/eso are weekly capped, so after a certain amount of doing it, theres no point in doing it until Tuesday. Everything worthwhile in doing has a small weekly cap (450 tomes, 1 loot per floor), so with 12 hours a day, you can actually cap eso and finish alex on a Tuesday.

    Unless you count being "on the game for 12 hours" as in having 2-3 hours of afking >_> Because you can play for 5 hours a day and finish everything for the week by Thursday. I really hope you're not counting achievements as "running out of things to do", because I hate to be the person to tell you, but achievements =/= content

    Count me as one of those that think there is a lot of content to do. AND, also plays a good number of hours each day. Maybe because I read the quests, even the NPCs before I take the quest and after, to get more flavor. Maybe because I don't take the quickest and fastest past to 60, but because there are still tons left to do, and things I love to enjoy. And my highest is only level 55.

    Correction:

    achievements =/= content that Obysuca wants to do.

    You seem to think that content only equals progression, and yet so many people also don't like the gear progression. I agree, achievements are not progression, as far as making your character stronger. They are all vanity gear, titles, minions, etc. But, still content that can be done.
