I know I just click random names unless someone really left a good impression on me because I see little point in this system. Honestly, commendations are just silly and another thing for people to grind to get titles and items.
You did cleave my comment a bit to look as though I am in opposition to your other points, when I agree with them. The rest of my post gave freedom for people to try unorthodox methods of gameplay, but suggested that it should be filtered out as to not effect your standard for performance. As an aside, I would rather have a dps who was afk, than have someone spout "Worse Run Ever", since that statement is a reflection of the entire group experience rather than directed at any specific problem.By your own definition, etiquette and concern for others feelings are not included in this standard. Therefore, people can act how they want.
However, the point is that, there are (or should be) unwritten standards not hardcoded into the game. These standards from your POV include:
1. Being patient
2. Being friendly (or not being unfriendly)
However, the conflicting point is that these standards should include:
1. Actively trying in the dungeon, as to not waste other peoples time
While I agree that people should be friendly and civil, I also agree that people should actually try to play well. I've seen DPS do less damage than my SMN pulls while using an ilvl 100 weapon and only casting dots without using any aetherflow ability or ruin. Now HOW can they pull such low dps, when I really have to try my hardest to actually pull that low? Easy answer, they're lazy and not actively trying.
I would rather have a healer that spews out "..." "Worst Run Ever" etc than have a DPS who auto-attacks and AFK's.
Ah I am sorry, I didn't mean to misrepresent you and must have misunderstood. I'm still pretty tired lol :P
Yeah I understand that there are those who would prefer a 'bad' DPS to a 'toxic' player and those the other way around. That's why a few pages back I suggested adding a playstyle option to the DF, so people can be matched up with like-minded individuals.
I'm of the opinion that a lot of this ugly attitude comes from the same eggheads who bring their Excel spreadsheets into the game and act as if everyone does the same thing. It's all right to expect each player to perform up to their ability to get through a dungeon. Where I draw the line is the moment some hothead thinks every dungeon should be cleared in 10 minutes (because he obviously has somewhere to be or else he wouldn't be playing an MMO), expects people to be in Raid-quality gear, and has a (clearly illegal) parser running 24/7. That OCD behavior can only suck the life out of a party.
All good. I'm sure people like us are not the problem with duty finder, as you display a great deal of class and reason in your responses. You have my respect.Ah I am sorry, I didn't mean to misrepresent you and must have misunderstood. I'm still pretty tired lol :P

pony farming is silly as well, but people still do it for the thrill of showing off on your new steed. commendation are the same, we all want the parade chocobo. if vanity item is not your cup of tea you better find another game, ff14 is at least 50% vanity-based. minions, glamour, housing, chocobo dyeing, mounts, achievement rewards, special events rewards, all vanity items, nothing useful there.
me i like vanity stuff, thats why i keep playing this game
Good point.Only issue with speaking up in DF is if your join a group and speak ill or even question someones actions, if your unlucky enough they came together your kinda SOL if they decide to remove you from the group, more so if its half way or near the end of the DF. I have been removed a few times for speaking up so now I just bite my tongue till the end then let em have it. Last thing I wanna do is say something and be forced to run the dungeon again just for my tome bonus or leveling exp bonus.
Thank you for also sharing your solution. You don't bite your tongue forever, you just wait until the job is done. Sounds fair to me!
^.^
Some people out there may find what you just said offensive. Stay in school and expand your vocabulary.

I've had a couple of situations where there's just weird miscommunication regarding what happened:
1- Healing AK regular, I'm using Virus which I have macroed to let party know I've just virused a mob. I use it on the Dulahans since they are physical attackers and I'm WHM. Tank is moving ahead before mobs are finished off, and runs behind dullahan; so the BRD eho was with us accidentally face pulls it when they follow after finish trash. Tank is like "..." Because he sees the Virus message from the last Dullahan that was a couple pulls ago.
2- A1N, get selected for preys twice. Die because I don't get healed through it. Second time, die again because I don't get healed. No rez after this time. Tanked the floor until end of fight because unavoidable damage. -.-
