I felt the pain. I had 80 million I had to spend before transferring from gilgamesh to balmung. Honestly, being 2 of the highest population servers I don't think it would have mattered much to take that gil wil me. But I can see why that's the case if I had gone to a smaller server. What hurt worse was relinquishing my house and not being able to get another because of the housing issues

somebody in my world was offering a relinquish of his large mansion for 230 million, cant even imagine how long the trade would take at 1M each time. i understand it's to prevent gil selling buy honestly, it doesnt stop anything and it's just annoying for everyone else. i only use gils to teleport and repair so i dont trade very much but if i want to pay someone to relinquish a house, i want to do it one shot, not 30 times.

I think those limits are kinda old when servers were still young and economies were still growing. I think those limits are too small nowadays and they need to be revised.

Gil transfer limit was a blessing in disguise for me because of it I was able to double my gil income through liquifying my gil into decent selling items.

And in the end I was able to own my dream Personal L House (My own mansion) in the most amazing spot in The Goblet near the waterfall and overlooking thw whole ward and the mountains beyond it, right before all plots were taken.

To the people who are saying they can just buy items that sell at cost from the MB and vendor them on the new server - yes, you can. Yes, that's no different than transferring the money directly. But if you're doing that with ~20 million gil, how long does that take? How easy is it if a hundred other people are doing it too? The point isn't that the current system prevents one person from dumping a bunch of gil into a server with a weaker economy. The point is that it prevents a significant number of people from doing it all at once. One person isn't going to completely destroy the economy. Sure, if you transfer enough all at once, the economy will ripple, but that'll settle after a short while back to the equilibrium it was at before. But, a hundred people transferring 20 million gil to a server where that has the buying power of 200 million or more? That's going to significantly impact the economy for months/years. That's what they're preventing.

The system is fine. If you want to transfer all your gil, work at it. Camp the MB for items that sell at vendor cost, like BC2s, FC2s, elemental materia Is, clear demis, and allagan pieces. It's doable. No one is stopping you. The hassle is part of the system, which appears to be working nicely.

Probably the dumbest reply I've ever seen someone say. He's right, RMT abuse should not be the reason to limit the amount of gil you can take off the server. Ive transferred twice, each time having to buy well over 60mil in items to resell on the new server. Its a horrible pain. Markets are so unstable at any given time you could lose big (one transfer cost me about 20mil because the of a market crash) Either way the limit needs to be a bit higher, in the 20/30mil range i'd say and thats not that high. I have 3x that amount now(with all my resell items from previous server sitting on my retainer). Will never transfer again

Some people seem to need the reason dumbed down further. Take two boxes and fill them to a point with pence. Lets say 4/5ths. Then take a cup roughly as tall as the boxes. Using the box as an example fill the cup from one box to how much you think you're worth in gil. Now pour that into the other box. That is the impact you'd have without the transfer limit. With the transfer limit your cup would be about the size of a small paper rinsing cup filled to the brim. Have retainers? A little paper rinsing cup filled about a third the way for each one. Far smaller impact than the other cup, isn't it.

All that does is turn it into an actual gil sink. It doesn't change what's actually being done.
