I've been thinking about transferring servers for a while. Every time I check the MB, I buy up all the allagan coins and demimateria that are not outrageously overpriced. It's probably not efficient as I could just buy items that resell at a profit, but I prefer knowing I will have the gil immediately without relying on the MB.

So, I will have 5m from selling that stuff alone. That's gil that's not in the market, that's not player to player. It's straight up taking a large amount of raw gil from one server and moving it to another. If you actually put more effort into the process, I'm sure you could quickly accumulate a much larger amount of cash tokens -- so sitting in PF rather than just relying on the MB.

If people want to move a large amount of gil, they can. Your markets aren't safe from anything. So, that's not why the limit exists. If it is, then it's a horrible reason.

That's definitely dumping gil into the market. I was specifically replying to you about buying items to resell at profit.

I really don't see any legitimate reason that they should start allowing massive amounts of gil to move from server to server. That just opens the door to using server transfers as a vehicle to basically P2W your way to riches in relative ease. Yes you can move more money with the Allagan coins and the clear Demimateria, but obtaining them in huge quantities is time consuming at best and requires a lot of effort.

Except on smaller servers I can buy stupid expensive frilly items and resell them for a profit after the transfer.

Certain glamour gear goes for a few hundred thousand here, but a few million elsewhere.

They'll just do what they do in WoW, which also has a gold transfer limit(which only applies to characters, not guilds, so you'll get people making guilds, dumping it in the bank and paying the 55 to transfer the guild itself)... Buy mounts, pets, and materials for resale.

Especially when going from large to small... that item in stupid high supply on one server might be scarce and fetching a fortune elsewhere.

The transfer limit is a pain but it's for a good reason. It does make it hard if you want to sell something to a friend or someone refers you some business to craft something or whatever. I mean what thing of value goes for just a mil now? Kingly whiskers and things like dusk leather I'm looking at you.

I get why its there though. Anytime I am inconvenienced by it I just think of all the trouble it give RMT and I don't feel so bad anymore. :P

I am fine with it, my characters are max level and both of them don't even have 500k. Its based off the average player and it does it well.

If you want to transfer 10million gil to a server, that is 20$ for each move. Your guild makes a donation to SE and you get your gil. =)
Of course its fine with you, you don't do anything else in the game:

If a server is small chances are there are more people transferring off instead of to it. Small servers usually have an economy with inflated prices as well. Even if the gil limit was raised, it would go further on a large server.

Or if your looking to transfer buy a ton of the allagan tin or such items from the MB and then resell once you move.

Sounds like someone is in very good graces with RMT and should be reported.
