Gonna pass on this. The Garleans at the top may have noble ideals, but their methods are human rights violations bar none.

1. Conquer new territory (e.g. Ala Mihgo.)
- Enslave everyone
- Conscript the strongest men and women into the military
- Use the elderly and children as labor
- Use weaker men and women as sex slaves (seriously this is what they do)
- Work everyone who isn't Garlean to death until they die from exhaustion, STDs, or on the battlefield
- Move your people into the newly emptied territory

2. If people resist
- Kill anyone trying to escape
- Hold their family members hostage if they manage to escape alive
- If they abandon their family members, raze the place to the ground and kill everyone anyway

The Garleans are not nice people. Their cool technology isn't even really theirs; its all copied off the Allagans. They view anyone who isn't Garlean as inferior - they see the enlightened races of Eorzea and the beastmen as the same. Commodities.

There is a reason Lucia defected, and it wasn't just because Ser Aymeric is hot.

I hope you simply overlooked the parallels of what you just said, given who the Garlean Empire and Doma are drawn from. I'd hate to think you knew what you were implying and thought it was acceptable to do so.

Spoiler: the Garleans aren't the good guys, and much of this thread is very depressing to read. I think I'll go do something else with my time.

Shao, the difference is that Ul'dah fought a war with Sil'dih hundreds of years ago. Ishgard betrayed the dragons a thousand years ago.

Garlemald eradicated Doma last year.

Ul'dah has moved past its warring phase, Ishgard is waking up to the truth. The Garleans? They just want to rule the world. Try reading the 2.1 questline with Yugiri a little more closely if you haven't noticed the details of what happened to Doma.
