I'd LOVE to look at Titan's magnificent rocky cockpiece while dodging literally the sky.
I'm all for this idea though, don't get me wrong.

I have asked for oculus support a few times on these forums. I still hope for it. Though I keep seeing this everywhere were people only picture VR and oculus being played in a first person mode. It doesn't have to be, it can be a exacty as it is viewed now but in 3d and with a much wider field of view. You would feel as if your in the game looking at your character.

What I think no one understands or just ignores to understand.
You have to render 60 frames per second on EACH lens, meaning that the computer must be able to have the game at 120 frames minimum in every single environment of the game. We already know how laggy it gets in towns with many characters, my GTX 980 will often dip at moments, meaning that VR will be a completely impossibility on most hardware, even if it's just a simple First Person modification to the game.

What most also forget is that 60 fps isn't minimum, 30 is
And no one should realistically expect it to look as good graphically as your current single display looks now. It is rendering 2 separate images per eye. It's like playing a splitscreen game and how that lowered the graphics or frame rate or draw distance for both players screens.
It's the same with this, and this is all just the nature of VR in general not any sort of limitation to this game or any specific headset

By 30 FPS minimum, you mean with VR, or without? Honestly 30 is the bare minimum for playing on your TV/Monitor, let alone a VR headset. People get nauseous with with VR headsets at 60 FPS, and it's not just special cases here and there, similar car sicknesses or whatever, a large amount of people are affected. I wouldn't want to imagine 30. What are they going to do to cover up the stuttering while turning your head quickly, motion blur? Not going to work with VR, at least not to the degree it's used in some PS4/XO games. What most also forget is that 60 fps isn't minimum, 30 is

And most current PCs that aren't running high end CrossFire/SLI GPUs really, unless the game is built so PCs can render the game twice without dropping below 60. There are a lot of games that can pull that off currently with a single high end GPU (Witcher 3, Black Ops 3, Battlefield, etc.) but FFXIV isn't one of them unless you're hanging about in a very unpopulated area, and then we get back to it just being a sightseeing thing.

My point is just that most of the complaints about VR with ffxiv are simply issues with VR in general. People do get sick using VR but it is a new experience and and people need to get used to it or maybe the game just has you move around too much and it's not great for VR. I personally didn't get sick or anything when i used the oculus but I might be a unique case because I work with 3D for a living.
My other point was simply that any computer or console will need more power to run something in VR then just a single display because it is rendering the game twice. That will never change, it will always require more graphical processing power even if a computer or any device is designed to play VR games.
It all just sounds like VR issues and saying that the game now stutters sometimes. Yeah the graphics are gonna have to be lowered to work in VR smoothly

if se chose to work with the oculus rift devs, and made the first person camera a node on the third person body, i would like that.
