    VR on FFXIV?

This game, in my opinion, is beautiful and some settings are jaw dropping. To me, it feels like the kind of fantasy world I'd like to actually be in. The ambiance, the art, the music are all fantastic. I occasionally like to kick in first person mode to see what things would look like at ground level.

I, for one, like the idea of VR support in this game. If they could do a full first person view featuring your character model to see your hands, mounts, and equipment that would be really cool. The only thing I wouldn't want first person for would be combat of course lol but you can always just change back to third person for that.

    What do you guys think?

If my computer could run that without just laughing at me, then sure.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.

I think that if VR becomes very successful, after a few yeas they will for sure implement it.

Personally, I'd say a new Final fantasy MMO from whenever the technology hits that point of sufficient immersion.

I think we'll have a few years of talking about PS4 limitations before that's an actually valid idea.

I don't think it would work for FFXIV. You'd have to redesign the MMO from the ground for it not to be a sightseeing gimmick, and even if it were implemented like a gimmick it's just wasted dev. time imho. Also, don't you need at least 120 FPS for VR not to cause motion sickness, with a 290x I find myself barely holding 40-60 in populated areas. Sometimes dipping lower.

Being that i own an Occulus Rif,t (Admittedly a DK1) games that are specifically built from the ground up to BE Virtual Reality look flat out amazing, even on the 480p display. The exceptionally well built ones don't have many, if any motion sickness issues.

In contrast, an existing game hotwired to work with the Occulus (VR in general, but my experience is with Occulus) look absolutely horrible.
You don't simply take an existing art piece and fiddle with the perception, Skyrim tried that and it literally makes my eyes and brain hurt. Hawken is probably one of the few outliers, but the dev team for Hawken had to work directly with the Occulus devs to get it to where it is today.

You need to build a game specifically with that VR in mind. So on that note, while i would love to have a VR Final Fantasy MMO, please don't hotwire XIV to do it, it'd just bring down the game.
