Don't forget monks, so it pretty much just leaves ninja/bard/mch but there again a skilled ninja can make short work of a smn
Actually, I often see SMN's running around like idiots and putting themselves in positions to die easy. It happens so often that I actually used to think that SMN's had some kind of extreme range limit on one of their moves. Not to mention that it's nothing for a Tank to rush in and get all up in their face. The good ones (or the blatant cowards, I'm not sure which) can stay out of the line of fire more times than not, but they're pretty easy to get to if you just keep an eye on them. Sooner or later, they all slip up and get a little too close to the edge of their group, and, if they don't, a tank can send them running away in terror with a good charge (best done with at least one healer at your back).
^This is why SMNs are so annoying. Its that they have both range and insane high burst while both WAR and DRG can burst for an insane amount too, they would have to generally need to dive into a large group of people. MCH and BRD also has great burst, but their dmg isnt as HIGH, thus we dont complain about them as much, plus they are pinned down from range penalty. Lets not forget people... Deathflare is ALSO AoE, WHY IS THE DMG SO HIGH, LOW CD, AND AoE?
Im not saying that SMN doesnt also have issues after their 1 Min CD burst, but... they have to tone something down and buff other regions.
Ex. Lower the potency of deathflare to 350 or 300 but increase max duration or potency from all their DoTs. This would trade off their explosive safe burst a lot are complaining about and add a more stable dps after the burst. Maybe make their egis stronger in pvp?

Lmao, I had a good laugh from this. Of course, it comes down to "skill" and managing CDs but the most important factor, the deciding factor for winner and loser is their EGIS. OH LORD. THE EGIS...
Great question though... what SMN would win...
Omg no way would I endorse this trade off and that's coming from a perspective of a an opponent of a smn instead of the smn themselves. Those dots (specifically when they slap all 3 on at once with tri-disaster) to me as drg were way more annoying than their 60 second bursts because those dots are stacking with a myriad forms of other dots (brd, mch, other sms etc) and end up giving them cheap kills even when you avoid their burst. This is made even worse by the fact that even after you withdraw from battle you have to go halfway across the map just to be considered out of battle to start regenerating your hp again since having a healer in your party is far from guaranteed in DF FL.
Its not even hard to survive and retreat a single smn burst anyway, with 2 self heals and abilities like elusive jump and shikuchi to open gaps, so I never really felt the need to have smn nerfed except indirectly via that purify recast reduction which we got already. And if you make their egis stronger in pvp you better also cut down the range from which the summon can stray from their master cause atm they are able to wander way too far as is.

SMN is overpowered. It's a fact.
they can kill anyone at full health in 3 seconds. how is that fair and balanced?
- Their combo can only be performed once every 60 sec (or more if you need more Aether stacks to finish off someone),
- They are one of the most fragile job in PvP,
- They can't kill tanks that way,
- They can't kill anyone that receive a heal or any damage mitigation during their combo,
- Due to their burst potential, they are one of the main target of... everyone,
- Their PvP skills are mostly useless,
- DoTs are a joke for healers to heal through (you don't even need to esuna them),
- They are, with SCH, the most vulnerable job to OIP and other buff removal abilities.
SMN are far from being the super gods that can kill anyone in a finger snap you describe.
From a job with a PvP Stealth and an instant killing tool in the form of the Melee LB, I find your hypocrisy level to be a little bit too high.
Fact: stating "it's a fact" doesn't make it a fact.
