    In English it can be misunderstood if you don't grasp the subtleties of the language as well I suppose, but in math? o_O
    you also realize that math and english are different languages?

    "increased by 300%" in math terms can also translate to "increased by [a factor of] 300%" which also translate into "times three (x3)"
