It wasn't a firewall issue. I pushed the client into windows 8 compatibility mode from the windows compatibility troubleshooter and it worked. The game was already cleared through the firewall.

Sounds like running as Admin may have been what was needed---possibly on the advanced tab for all users.
(holding out on Win10 until after SE actually supports it and M$ releases at least it's first service pack this fall).

I still cannot do a thing.. I even reinstalled my windows 7. I contacted my provider - no way, it just doesn't want to download. Even new game downloader is not downloading for me. http://gdl.square-enix.com/ is DEAD. And I never made changes for my previous Win setup. GOOD ONE SE - as always...
