Why does White Mage feel so bland?

Now back to the main topic: WHM is anything but bland and useless now. It "lost" some of its OPness because ASTs got buffed, so the gap (which was not that large to begin with, imo) was filled. They're still the AoE healing beasts and Divine Seal remains as a very nice signature move that can't be matched by any other in the game. I do believe they could get some love in the DPS department by rearranging the potency from their DoTs, so they won't miss (maybe give Aero a trait and turn Aero III into a pure AoE DoT?), but that's not a big deal with melded accessories, as someone stated here. I'm happy that they're allowing parties to do multiple strategies, like having a WHM dps while a SCH/AST heals, and vice versa.

But honestly.
AST does have reduced MP usage BUT, the only MP regen tool they have is LA on a 120s CD.
And an unreliable RNG card.
SCHs have their infinite MP management.
and WHM has Assize AND shroud.
And, really, WHM still is the king of healz, stop crying over nothing please.
AST needed some buffs, and they got it, go play your job and be happy with it no one's going to replace you.

ONE OTHER THING.
You don't need "reasons" to stay with your job, all you need to do is to have fun with it, WHM will aways have their place in the game.
Again, WHMs are crying over nothing, just let dem astros be happy because they deserve it.

WHM has always felt bland to me, reason I leveled AST and wanted to main AST from the moment I hit 60 lol. Why say that now that AST has gotten fixes and not before they did? Is it just because they got fixed now that you feel the job is bland now? The Sects were there from the start pre-fix so I don't know why come up with this conclusion now, only because AST is competitive now.

Potency was really the only saving grace. To be fair its still early though. Oh, and hey its not bland. You can do things no other healer can do!!! Ya know, things like um... Fluid Aura... And.... Um... Uh... Repose. Yeah! WHM isn't bland /sarcasm.

Idk, I'm not particularly worried, while I would prefer to main WHM I find AST to be fun. If push comes to shove I'll just switch mains.

Except that whm dps is better in a3s than sch, so sch solo healing with whm dpsing with accuracy melded accessorries is a perfectly viable strategy.

I dont think I agree with this for a variety of reasons (I'm currently on a3s prog). SCH dps weaving in energy drains is not only mana efficient but also very effective. WHM would have to spam stone 3 to match that and would deplete their mana very quickly rendering them useless in both healing &dps pretty quickly. Not only that but the shared cleave dmg & aoe going out in a3s is easier on WHM to top because divine seal med 2 and SCH aoe healing cd. And for SCH to blow regen they would need to use eos to buff solo healing dropping raid dps (no Selene). Sure it can be a strategy but I don't think it's optimal. I think maybe more viable for adds but then again both healers are gonna dps so solo healing there is kinda irrelevant.

The melodrama is real. If SCH didn't kill WHM during 2.x despite the doom-and-gloom threads that ran rampant, AST is unlikely to kill it, either.

If AST could literally do everything that WHM could, sure...but it can't. Divine Seal is still a superior healing CD (and can be activated more frequently), Assize is instant and great for either healing or DPS, Benediction, Tetragrammaton, Cure III, Aero III...come on. I don't see AST "phasing out" WHM.

It's really ever since the introduction of AST as a class that I've realized that there just ... isn't much that will attract people to the class. In the HW teaser trailer, we were shown Tetragrammaton. So flashy, right?

Bland is in the eye of the beholder. Tetragrammaton isn't a walking disco, but it's very powerful, free, on a decent CD, and will heal for more than Essential Dignity unless you are EDing someone who's nearly dead.

Personally I find WHM to be much more enjoyable than it was in 2.x. It feels less plodding than it was before thanks to a bit of skill padding and a greater arsenal of oGCD abilities.
