Tbh a good whm can dps as much as a sch, as things stand now.Welp, you still have a minimal amount of dps, so for progression you won't be replacing the sch. Once things are on farm Ast/Whm might be the best combo, but we aren't there yet. So for progression, you will be trying to replace the whm spot. Can ast do that now? Well, im not totally sold but if you can, the card buffs going out from the solo healer will be amazing. Your hots were already good and now they are even better, but most people have at least watched a vid of what the last two turns of savage are about.Big damage all the time. Combine that with the fact that few ppl have been gearing ast with their eso tomes I would imagine. This combination of events does give some people the opportunity to really shine with the class though. Good luck to anyone going for it.
What baffles me most is Synastry. That thing is now a monster.
I still hope that SE will add a range bonus for durinal and mp cost reduction for nocturnal, but time will tell. It's better to make only a few changes at a time anyway.
Wouldn't be so sure about that due to the fact that AST can put a 80 sec balance card on a dps which makes up for the damage difference between SCH and AST plus with that balance extend deal if you get lucky you could have multiple extended balance cards up at the same time before the previous one falls off.
The fact is... why didn't Elysium or Lucrezia replace WHM/SCH with an AST? Everyone know the reason why. WHM+SCH is still perfect for progression.
Sorry i'ts almost 6.am here and i'm a bit sleep, and that partI don't even know how you picked that up from my post. I never advocated for AST to receive all of 3 oGCD heals of WHM (of all the strengths of WHM to pick, you picked oGCD? Ok.)
I'm speaking up against those who think that AST is now OP. It isn't. It still has its own magnitude of problems to deal with, as both healers do, but its now more viable and COMPETITIVE with WHM and SCH.

And whit potency of healing increased to the same lvl of WHM and SCH i think changing some things, like the RNG cards, and or "sub-par DPS" will unbalance so much the game, AST it's not OP now, is a Healer whit a support kit. We'll see though but in this age where dps is so needed to clear new contents, the balance card might make a difference between and a clear and a 1% wipe. Healing wise I do think AST is very close to WHM because of the potency buff. I'm trying to think what the whm could bring to the table that AST couldn't. Maybe free cure 2 or benediction? but then free cure 2 is just mana management and the AST has the ewer card for that.I would not count WHM out just yet, since as of now, there is no healer that can rival the power of healing from WHM. If anything, WHM is your tried and true, safe bet, and by far, the best healer in the game. AST at least now can compete with SCH since with the card tweak, AST buffs is far superior overall and you can almost keep the buffs forever.
WHM is the defacto healer, you always want one if you need a solid healing output. AST is now at least on par, and bring the buffs (granted, still random) to the party, and it can be sustained forever, at least one party member will always get buffs, or everyone could get buffs every 30 seconds (which can be extended). AST is still the third in position when you rank healers in this game, but at least now we are way way better than before patch 3.07.
Oh yea because a 80 sec balance card with the ability to put up another 60 sec balance card up before the 80 sec runs out wouldn't make up the difference at all now would it?
