Well there is an effect over Odin's next spawn ... Killing him will result in him spawning one level higher the next time. Failing to kill him will delevel him the next round.

The main problem with those is that they are totally random and can't be soloed. ><

My goblins are predictable and the attacks FATEs (if players QQ) can just be made soloable.

that's not what this topic is about is it? affecting the FATE itself and affecting the world is not the same.

    Yes and no.

The topic is about a more "lively world" where things in the world change over time (logically; not randomly) however the conversation seem to have shifted somewhat to "player actions having consequences".

I would prefer if we could go back on topic though. But I'm no mod.

There's also a Ququirn NPC who makes her way through Poor Maid's Mill and sets up shop only after a FATE has been completed successfully. She sells the baby bats.

These NPCs do exist, but they are always tied to FATES. There's one that makes his way from Falcon's Nest with a chocobo, and he gets ambushed by something, and a FATE can pop if someone clicks him to help him out.

I'd like to see more random NPC conversations as I walk by them. Though I notice that they did make an effort to populate areas since the beginning of 2.0, I feel like cities and towns are still too empty.

Well some of us don't like your boring stale world where nothing changes. Personally I'm all for it, it makes leveling less boring and mediocre. I know you may love your boring repetitive grinds and how dare things be fun and dynamic HERESY!!!! But personally the game could use more spicing up here and there. I think all mmo's could use with more dynamic player involved systems.

I'd just like to see npc's move inside if it's raining etc. Or at least cover up. Like Those two Roe girls in Idyllshire who are quite happy to stand in skimpy tops when there is a storm blowing around

This is the kind of thing that I can only see going two ways:

    1) The NPC doesn't really carry or offer anything of importance so besides doing it a few times for the novelty, it'll wind up becoming something that everyone ignores. Kind of like the FATEs we have now that open up minion shops that no one does anymore.

    2) The NPC does carry something important or is otherwise tied to a crucial service, in which case it becomes more tedious than fun after the first few runs. FFXI's Besieged was quite similar with how you lost various services when you were defeated and you could also lose NPCs even if you won. Heaven help you if you actually needed that service or NPC. Then you had to hope you could find competent people to go raid the beastman stronghold to retrieve the Astral Candescence and any captured NPCs. Was fun the first few times, quickly became a pain in the ass after the umpteenth time. That's not the kind of thing I'd want carried over to FFXIV.

A dynamic world is fine, but having consequences for people not being around or participating sounds like a bad idea to me.

With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.

Yeah they did this in FFXI and it could be a pain, imagine logging in or capping out your tomes to find out the NPC selling esoterics gear was kidnapped and you need to assemble a raid squad to rescue her and possibly others. All so you can purchase needed gear that you already worked for, as others have said before it will need to be something you will miss in order to get a decent percentage of the population taking part.
