God no, player actions should not mean whether or not a vendor has items for sale.

...
Why not?
You can always go essort the goblins yourself if you are hard up to buy the item.
Edit: The funny thing is, items on the market board are already dependent on "player action". You going to throw a hissy fit about that too?

1. If they're vendor exclusive it's just an annoyance and will affect the market for said items
2. It sounds exactly like a FATE
3. If it's not vendor exclusive then nobody will do it
Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh
"annoyance" = inconvenient
FATEs are random and meaningless, they have no effect whether you clear them or not.
My goblins are "predictable", they depart the same time every day. The attacks they get (which will be in a form of FATEs) will be random though - or they may not, you can have the attack location and who attacks depend on other factors.
If you miss it on one day, just wait for one Eorzea day and try again - no different from farming unspoiled nodes.

I can think of one case in the game like this.
The vendor that sells the Baby Raptor minion is only available if the "Clearing the Hive" FATE was won.
I remember because when I tried to get this minion I was annoyed by having to wait for the FATE to spawn since it had previously failed.
So I say no. XIV's world is not boring to me.
I would much rather have convenience.
1) there's nothing wrong with players being able to affect the market.
2) FATEs that are more meaningful sounds like a good idea to me.
3) people do FATEs anyway, they should just have a larger affect on the world.
i would love it if failing the Odin FATE changes things in Gridania until Odin spawns again.
and add some consumables for Odin Mantles, Behemoth Horns, Coeurlregina Horns like Ventures/Cordials, etc.
Well there is an effect over Odin's next spawn ... Killing him will result in him spawning one level higher the next time. Failing to kill him will delevel him the next round.
The main problem with those is that they are totally random and can't be soloed. ><
My goblins are predictable and the attacks FATEs (if players QQ) can just be made soloable.
that's not what this topic is about is it? affecting the FATE itself and affecting the world is not the same.
Yes and no.
The topic is about a more "lively world" where things in the world change over time (logically; not randomly) however the conversation seem to have shifted somewhat to "player actions having consequences".
I would prefer if we could go back on topic though. But I'm no mod.
