There's a difference between content everyone can access, and only a certain amount of people can access that's not due to the fault of the player, but "server limitations" that they'll never fix.
If the new types of content rewards the current top tome, I'm all for one less dungeon.
Which gives us two things to assume.
A) XIV's not making as much as people think. No company would come out and say "We're losing subs" or anything, that would turn away potential profits.
B) "Spend money to make (more) money" doesn't apply to things anymore and it's become "Spend as little money and try to get more money". Which in a way, can be true of SE, at least outside of Japan. Take a look at all the XIV events Japan gets yearly, not to mention the advertising and other things. Now take a look at what we get outside Japan. The same went for XI. Plenty of advertising and promo events / merchandise in Japan. 1 commercial and like 3? 4? merchandise outside Japan.

But it doesn't necessarily mean we will get more quality each patch. They're essentially taking away from one part of the game to focus on another. Look at 2.XX patches the main focuses were between raids, dungeons and story. Everything else was a bit subpar in my eyes, crafting and gathering never really got much attention, FCs got absolutely nothing, PvP was minimally looked into and even the Gold Saucer wasn't really touched after it was dropped. Them taking away from the areas of the game they focused on in the past to focus on more variety is a bit alarming once you actually look at all the things they didn't bother to expand on in the past.
Did you really have to make a new thread when there's already an existing one titled, "Only two new expert dungeons every patch?" I'll repeat what I said there:
This is an instance of people never being satisfied with anything. People complain that new content is "just the same with different skins", and then when they say they're going to be doing something different, people still complain.
Lets summarize the facts:
Devs are currently overworked- hence schedule changes to alleviate the stress- Yoshi doesn't want them to quit- the cost of training and getting a new dev is much larger than keeping them. Esp. devs that are passionate about FF.
just last week they was what over 20 pages long of ppl saying they want innovation- well guess Yoshi was heard you cuz BAM - you getting something new that is never been tried before. Even yoshi said it is risky and players may not like it. Worst thing- hell it sucks- then we go back to 3 dungeons- at least the devs
If devs have a set budget and set time- guess what resources are being Reallocated NOT CUT. I love the 50+ dungeons but there are MANY MANY threads of people hating them and begging for something new.
He also mentioned new types of side quests outside of the fetch quests. so yes you guys won- he heard you and is implementing it.
I think quite a few people that read that, also didn't see that they want to take that development and put it towards new and more dynamic content that doesn't follow the same cookie cutter style quests and such. So if they are looking to redesign content and the dynamic of it, then yes you are going to lose something because of it. Why not give them a shot instead of complaining about something you don't even know the full details about.
I sure hope they give us more than 4 raid bosses instead. I'll sacrifice dungeons for that.
Ah, Bill Cosby. A shining example of what a community should aspire to be.
Q20: Will we ever be able to send tells from within an instanced area?
A20: While the feature can be implemented, it’s currently masked. It’s currently masked because we would like to prevent players from harassing each other just because they know they would never party together in the future. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully as we move forward.
