Not sure you actually understand what is happening. They are diverting resources by doing 2 dungeons per patch instead of 3 in order to give you something else. We are trading AAA for AAB not AA. -_____-

Or they could maybe not do some of the new things until they actually have resources, instead of making another part of their game suffer?
You know what's funny? No matter what approach the game goes, people will complain. ALWAYS. Now, lets say they kept with the same gist. 3 dungeons per patch. Then you'll have a thread saying "I'm tired of the same thing. They are giving us these dungeons but it's basically the same! We grind these dungeons in EX roulette for tomes and it just becomes a boring grindfest" Know how I know? cause it ALWAYS pops up after every patch. Now that they stated they wanted to try new things and try something different "Woah! don't do that! Only 2 new dungeons? Honestly it's the end"
My advice? We wait to see what they have to offer and see if it brings us something good. But it gets tired when people bring the doom and gloom to the game when we haven't received much news yet.
Still don't think you understand. They are still releasing the same level of content. The style of part of that content is simply something else. I'd gladly do with 2 dungeons instead of 3 per patch if it means a bigger variety of content is added instead.
And if they don't get more resources? Does that mean we don't get any new things? What makes you assume they will have enough resources added to their development team to facilitate the development of newer content?
Ive said it before but if we ever want new forms of content it means we do without other things. I'm holding my judgment somewhat to see exactly what they do with the EX roulette. If its only two dungeons it will be a problem. If they add the two new dungeons to the pre existing EX roulette I think it will be less of a problem, particularly over time as more dungeons get added.
What it will come down to is the question on if the new forms of content in development are a worthy trade. Yoshi P said himself you can never be sure when you try new thing. However if they don't try then it means we never see the game evolve.
It sounds like the resources used for that third dungeon are being spent on developing the Sky Island exploration for FC Airships. While that has the potential to be excluding of people not in guilds with Airships, people outside a guild can be invited to expeditions and I suspect there will be FCs looking for pugs to fill their groups for expeditions. This also has the potential to build a stronger more interactive server community.
How the chips fall though we will have to wait and see.

I preffer higher quality content that speedy massive patches. And i hope, for less grindy content too...
I'm thoroughly convinced that the FFXIV community will never be happy no matter what SE does.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
Didn't Yoshida state that FFXIV was a success, and a hit multiple times? They do have enough money to fund additional development team staff, but it'll eat into their profits so of course they won't.
