I really shouldnt wish this since I love the FFXIV community alot and many people but I truly hope that Blizzard just creates their new MMORPG sometime soon or something like that from a new company so Yoshi P can see how unloyal this casual gamer group he is trying to cater too actually is. We get it its a business its all about cash and the more simple it is to get a player hooked the longer they will subscribe. The same thing with WoW when you played FFXI or EQ and went to WoW and saw how fast you levled ofcourse it felt you acheived something and you considered yourself good but that filtered out fast endgame. Also like Kanama said most FFXI subscriptions funded FFXIV since FFXI was so successful and ontop of that doublesubscriptions yet the most loyal of the gamers/customer group got the short end of the stick.

We where stupid enough to tell Yoshi P during the 1.0 that we didnt want a new FFXI but somewhere along the line I think most of us did not take into concideration that Yoshi P had no FFXI experience came directly from WoW and DAoC and pretty much created what he felt he was missing in these two games here. This game wouldnt look like this otherwise. FFXIV is a WoW in FF clothing with "new" elements just under different names but 0 elements from FFXI. No "casual" is to blame its strictly our fault and I'm not sure how this will work in the future.
But you ARE playing WoW, or whatever generic source game WoW based itself on. Different features, but the same core game. That's why the game is so easy to pick up and play for those who have played MMORPGs before over the last decade or more: We already learned how to play this game! We just learned new features.

Colt47: Dont worry eventually people will get sick of this and Yoshi P and SE will get burned the hard way so be it. I know Tanaka messed up the game but check the gamereactor interview from 2012 or 2011 I remember. He didnt want a new WoW. Then Yoshi P came with WoW and master recycling and copy paste behavior. I will just give it time. Its gonna happen in due time I'm just waiting it out. I'm not alone sharing these views so I will patiently wait it out. If the recycling doesnt stop eventually people can't take these insults as customers to certain limits.

I get where that statement is coming from. I don't completely agree with it. As I don't think time spent in game equates to a hardcore or casual person.

For the first time I did the /playtime command.

    [16:48]Total Play Time: 294 days, 9 hours, 13 minutes

My highest relic is Novus. Have not beaten Coil 1 Turn 5, Titan Extreme, Urth's Fount, Thornmarch Extreme, Whorleater Extreme, highest gatherer is level 50 with the basic HQ level 50 gear and basic Rauni, highest crafter is level 32. But at least I got a lot of time played and both tank mounts.

I don't think I am hardcore, I just think I enjoy the game. Hard core FFXIV player? Casual raider? I don't care, I enjoy what I do in the game.

I do think that the harder content should give better rewards, so that you can progress through that harder content. And that the "casual" content should be enough to get your started in the first steps of the harder content. I mean, look above at what I have done, and not done. For what I was doing, ilvl 130 armour and accessories were overgearing everything. Would I have cared if only the hardest raids and Extremes gave out ilvl 130, while I was "stuck" at 120? No.

MANTASTIC: I got 1017 problems, but playing FFXIV ain't one.

Don't know about "loyalty" or whatever. But I do know WoW is bleeding subs. People are tired of the same old, same old.

If YoshiP follows the exact same path as WoW, FFXIV will go down the drain with it.

On the bright side, YoshiP does seem willing to experiment, it's just that none of the new stuff is out yet.

I know someone's going to give me crap about it, but despite a few of the bad decisions from Tanaka, I actually preferred him to Yoshi. It really felt like Tanaka cared about the things he worked on, rather than looking at it like it's just a pile of cash, which most companies do now.

Take XI for example, yeah it has a few problems, but with Tanaka on it, XI did pretty well for it's age and gave a majority of people a reason to log on and play every day/month. Then they swapped him out for another producer and XI went towards the casual WoWish style and lost a lot of subs :/ I'm sure if they would have given it time, Tanaka could have made 1.0 amazing and something fresh in all this clutter of WoW clones. It sort of felt like 1.0 was rushed to release before it had time to polish up.

I'm pretty sure WoW's been bleeding subs because the bulk of the content's been awful since the beginning of Cataclysm, and it finally hit rock bottom with WoD and its grand total of 2 patches.

The days of horizontal progression is gone. Unless you want a purely glamour item. Then i see no reason to complain. But anything that has any relevance to progression should be reset in the current model.
Only that WoW utterly destroyed itself after reaching Cataclysm due to raising the level cap so much that it could no longer sustain a reasonable pace of quest progression. Vertical progression is dead and gone with WoW. To mimic that model without tempering the upwards progression is suicide.

Get all the red-scrip gear for gatherers and crafters, there you have a long term goal.

Im tired of the lack of close and mid term goals, most activities in this game are measured in months. Somehow SE thinks casual means people with lots of free hours.
