    Green Mage

    So I would like a mage class that specialize in debuff and support. We all know that was green magic in ff12 why not add them. they will be great I know we have things like stone skinn and protect but why not have the use spells like oil to increase damage from fire attacks make it learn bravery and faith. U can even have it change the weather to help. Rain extends thunder ticks while lowering fire spells a bit. somrthing of that nature will be ok.

    Ugh green mage is such a gimmick. I'd rather have red mage or geomancer before having green mage. Green mage is like the FF equivalent of Rain/Chameleon ninjas in Mortal Kombat. Jumped the shark hard. Red Mage was support in FF11, and many of their spells exist in 14 but are not tied to any class e.g. Regen, Refresh, Stop, Paralyze, Blind, En-element, Blaze Spikes, Haste, Slow etc.

    Elemental wheel in this game was removed after 1.0 - they said it's not coming back. Players will not do elemental damage, so green mage ideas are kind of a bust.

    They also said they aren't adding a "support" role to the DF anytime soon, so It would just be a dps, healer or tank. Any support ability will be the regeneration of TP/MP or the reduction of skillspeed/spellspeed. That is all that is currently allowed under the structure of the design of the combat system in this MMO.

    On that note, any job/class that is normally a support or similar would more than likely chopped into bits and unrecognizable once brought into FFXIV for this reason and this alone. It's a shame they chose to use the trinity system when 2.0 came out, but it is what it is.

    It would make alot more sense to get geomancer instead, which would be split from conjurer and be a DoM dps class, since there aren't too many of those.

    Green mage reminds me more of a healer role in name. Maybe it's because the hue green represents healing? I don't know.

    Green = nature = healing. You're not far off.

    I'd probably still make it a HoT-based healer. Manipulating the life energy of their allies to accelerate natural healing (as opposed to SCH, WHM and AST that make sparkly lights somehow mending your wounds).

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    Incidentally, I was just thinking up a concept for this as well as other jobs. I saw it the same as it was in each FF it has appeared in thus far; a lower DPS caster job that specializes in support abilities giving buffs to the party and debuffs to the enemies.
