    The thing is, it seems like SE made ALL the tank busters in this set of raids magic damage.

    PLD got an instant block skill - useless against tank busters.
    WAR got a parry skill - useless against tank busters.
    DRK (the new guy) has a specific anti-magic CD - works on tank busters...

    Uh, anyone think that the reason for this is to serve as an incentive for people to lvl and use DRK, you know the new class, in raids?

    I dont mind the idea of having some bosses w/ purely magic tank busters, but then you need to compensate with physical ones. Nael is a perfect example of a physical tank buster that is to be mitigated with CD's.
    Have the tank buster come in 2 stages, a cast indicated windup stage, where the boss repeatedly attacks you, say 5x dealing half the total damage, followed by another cast indicated finisher stage, where you take 1 big hit for the remaining 50%.

    So a PLD, which has some ~40% damage reduction on block using the i200 shield, would use Shelltron for the finisher hit, reducing the total damage by 20%. While a WAR would use Raw Intuition when the windup cast appears, allowing them to parry each attack reducing the total damage by 20%.

    Something like that which promotes smart CD usage.

    PLD princesses can't stand not being the center of the spot light.

    Just like back when WAR 2.1 buffs announced in 2.0 (Not yet implemented), forums suddenly got flooded with "OMG WAR IS GOING OP!"

    Now we have a couple of groups dropping PLD MT for a DRK MT and they go "OMG PLD ISSUES!"

    We have 3 tanks now, we can't have 1 tank sit on the MT spot and hog it. You gotta share sweetie.

    I'm on A3S, I would kill for some physical mitigation. The magic AoEs aren't a big deal since I get healed up by Cure III anyways. Dark Mind will see more benefit in A4S, but still can't even compare with a Hallowed PLD eating orbs during a Discoid while taking all of 0 damage. Not to mention GCD stun on legs, Orbs ignore Dark Mind, etc. PLD is still by far the best mitigation tank, you'll understand once you hit 60. Especially if you start raiding.

    Tankbusters have to be balanced around all three tanks or one is left out. Meaning physical attacks would have to be built around Shadowskin/Shadow Wall, which line up perfectly with PLDs Rampart/Sentinel. Which in turn means PLD would have an additional 0.80 multiplier on all incoming tankbusters with your scenario. Why even bother bringing a DRK when a full time Sword Oath PLD would take roughly the same damage?

    It would make you feel more secure being the all around better tank, that doesn't make it balanced. Something this forum doesn't seem to understand very well.

    For the entirety of 2.x, PLD had much worse DPS than WAR, yet it was the MT of choice. You never saw people go double WAR. Before you mention the LB penalty, people were going double MNK where one doing its optimal rotation with DK and the other doing a more optimal rotation by skipping DK. Remember world first T12 and 13 having double monk?

    The only way you will be an all round tank is if you do not excel at anything. But as long as you are the BEST physical tank while not even lacking in any way in magical damage, you will not do more DPS.

    PLD is in no way irrelevant. It has been, and will always be, the best mitigation tank. If your group wants more DPS at the cost of mitigation by dropping PLD, that is a very balanced and strategic choice.

    This is honestly the best solution. Or at least grab 2/3, with DRK being 1 of them and your preferred other being the other one. For example, the MT in our group runs PLD, and the OT runs WAR. Both have DRK.

    SE made it so that specific encounters are EASIER as one tank class or the other. Is it required that you be DRK to deal with magic tank busters? No, but it's easier to do so.

    My group's PLD, using the i200 shield, says that when he blocks an attack from Oppressor in A1S, the game states that the block reduced damage by 43%.

    Nah. Hive Scutum only blocks like 28. Dude is either high or mistyped 23%. If Prytwen was a level 50 shield and STR still affected block he could probably hit 43% though.
