I'd prefer being able to turn it off too. It bugs me more than the Darkside aura.

Personally, I love them. I love the detail in the flying animations. I just wish flying mounts banked instead of turning, especially the ones that glide when flying straight, like the dragon. I recall Yoshida saying in an interview or live letter that he'd ask the animation team about it, so I'm hoping that happens!
Look, if you're going to talking about spoilers, you really should be using the spoiler tags. Some people really don't like that sort of thing!

I suffer from game vertigo and the trails off the wings especially in dust or snow storms can make me nauseous so I have to look elsewhere on the screen. For this aspect only I do wish I could turn off the effect. It is quite nice to have this sort of detail, but not for everyone.
I have no prayer for that...

I wonder if this is a common problem? If so, it would be nice if SE had an option that would disable vertigo-inducing effects. It would also be nice for accessibility. I'm assuming you also have issues with the Quarantine skill used by the A4 boss? That's something they should really allow you to disable for accessibility reasons if you are prone to vertigo. =\

Not sure if it is true vertigo, but I got very sick trying to find the moogles and that stupid little bridge. It is the up/down, side to side movements that get to me in games and anything swirling makes me sick also. Needless to say I can't touch anything FPS. The quarantine skill disorients me for a bit and I look away when I am tumbling up or down the tunnels. It is a problem for lot of gamers.
I have no prayer for that...

Yeah, my best friend hates FPSs. I asked her why, and she said it's because they make her sick. Literally. She gets nauseous at the way the screen moves, especially while jumping or whatnot. She really wanted to play Portal, but that did NOT go well and she had to stop. =\
I'd think flying in general would be bad for people with vertigo/motion sickness issues. Personally, I get motion sick in actual vehicles all the time, but never in games. Dunno why. I can still empathize though - motion sickness isn't fun.
Does zooming out help at all? Or moving the camera directly above you looking down when going up/down? Dunno, just trying to think of ways to minimize the motion and the contrails...
