Another note on this: When I'm tanking, I like to "warm up" a bit, to see what the DPS is like in the group, before I pull 6-10 mobs at once. If the DPS seems slow to me, I'll adjust my pulls for best survival of the group. If I have two melee DPS and no AOE-types, same deal. (If I have a bard and a black mage, you bet I'm going to pull the entire room if I can get away with it!)

So my first few pulls will seem cautious, but if the group handles them without any issues, I'll get more aggressive.

I'm also tired of the DPSes or healers who have "me, me, me" mindset so they like to pull all monsters before the tank.

Impatient people suck, but you could have handled it better as well. You could have asked from the get-go, "Could you hold on a minute while I explain mechanics to the newcomer?" or something like that. Like, not wait until the first boss, but right from the beginning.

But I agree that even if you're polite, people are still jerks pretty often. Luckily I don't have to deal with it much since I almost never get English queues.

Sometimes easier to just drop party than deal with it. It is the worst when people just don't listen at all and keep making the same "mistakes." And I quote mistakes because I swear some people go into roulette to purposefully play bad just to see who they can piss off.

As a tank the only time I see this is when my BLM friend is show my hubby and I new content.

He levels quicker then us but always able to help and explain thing. But he runs into rooms and pulls mobs, but he also knows what I can do better then myself.

With party setup of Tank. 2 DPS. Healer. There is really no roll for someone to pull with. In turn tank controls pace. Most people understand that.

    Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.

Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!

That was a kick done in very poor taste. I'd be lying if I said I didn't get annoyed with people who stop and talk and hold the group up, or people who don't bother watching a video and want the group to stop and explain the same exact things to them that they could have gotten from a video.

But I would not kick someone over it. Very childish.

Know why they kicked you OP? Because it doesn't take a majority to do a successful kick. It only takes 2 people to vote yes, since the kicker is an automatic yes and the person being kicked gets no vote. So it's a race to see who starts the kick first!

Maybe everyone misunderstood me. I don't pull mobs as a dps or a healer. I let the tank pull. But I'm tired of hearing TANKS control the pace. If you have a good group with good aoe and a decent healer that want to go fast, the tank no longer holds the pace. He must adjust to the party. If a healer or dps pulls a mob, it means speed up. My comment wasnt in regards to the OP. It's in regards to the whole "tanks control the pace." Tanks feel entitled and it's completely disrespectful to the other 3 members in the party

I think I might have run into this pair on the Lost City of Amdapor when I was PLD tanking in 2.3 (Though that pair consisted of a SMN & WHM). They didn't want anyone to open any chests, which I'm assuming because they didn't know that mimics are pre-set at the time. So instead of noticing that I could tell where the mimics were, they kicked the other dps player because they thought he opened the chest. When I confronted them about it, they didn't want to listen to reason, and instead of waiting for a 4th member, the SMN went up and pulled the Decaying Gourmand boss.

Now this was before I got geared on my PLD, in fact I was pretty fresh, and the SCH had been pulling extra groups. I was popping my buffs left and right and if dps was actually geared, then I wouldn't have been able to hold aggro. Judging from what they said about the mimics and the fact that they kicked someone because of it, I stepped out of the area since I knew my dps alone would not be able to free the only dps in time, and I was 90% sure that neither of these players knew the mechanics of the fight. The SMN swiftcast summoned a Titan-Egi and they were able to survive due to the weak damage output the boss has on the tank, but the scenario played out exactly how I thought it would. The Healer became the target of Prey, and the Summoner didn't notice that he needed to break the Voracious Maw until he spit out a very dead White Mage.

I ended up being kicked (which was a mercy in my eyes), even though if I went in there the result would have been the same. If it is the same duo, then I would imagine they probably learned nothing in the last year and a half.

This right here is exactly what's wrong with ppl. 9 times out of 10 if a dps or healer pulls an extra mob, it's a polite way of saying speed up. You are not the only one in the party. If it's your first time, that's fine. I will adjust and go slow because that's what needs to be done. I honestly don't care about speed, and I'm not gonna pull any extra mobs. I never said I did.

My comments are strictly in regards to the, "me tank, me all powerful, me lead, me set pace, bullcrap. All 4 ppl, party composition, skill all play a factor in the pace. Ppl need to be able to adjust, and I just want tanks to get off their high horse. It's nonsense

Yeah, I've been noticing this sort of thing becoming more and more prevalent as 2.x ended and 3.x came in.

I really hate it when dps or healer try and pull shit for me, that is just total bullshit. The tank sets the flow and the other jobs need to knock that crap off.
Yeah, whenever I see something like this happen, I usually let it go the first time. If it keeps happening, and clearly deliberately? You have fun with whatever you just pulled.

Uhh, no. A polite way of saying "speed up" would be to actually say something (politely)

Actually going ahead and pulling stuff yourself (deliberately; it's important to note this because it does happen by accident sometimes) says nothing but "screw what you think; I'm taking over"
