1) Yes, we got a month's worth of playtime for that $15. But we wouldn't have been able to participate in the event and get the items if we didn't buy that month of playtime. If we did not spend $15 (ok, for me $10 since I'm legacy), we could not have gotten the items.

2) 15-30 minutes is hyperbole. Some events took hours to get all the items. But that's neither here nor there and has nothing to do with the price of tea in China, since I didn't even mention the time necessary to complete the FATEs, just that we had to suffer through them.

EDIT: I'm not actually seriously suggesting they make it $15, if that wasn't clear. I think $2-3 is fine. But it shouldn't be free, since you had to be subbed to get the event items in the first place.

Making it a rare drop from either the trial or the open world Odin Event would probably make ppl more interested in those activities once more. As of today they are rarely used. Atleast on my server.

You are forgetting several things in that piece of math.

First, we couldn't have gotten it without paying for the actual game as well, so each set should be something more like $35.
Second, you would pay the extra game price EACH TIME you buy a new set of something.
And third, we are paying $15 NOW, TODAY, to get to THIS year's celebration. WHY can't those items ALSO be available NOW, TODAY, at THIS year's celebration? Where is the logic? WHY do you want to pay MORE money to do LESS in the game you claim to love to play?

Cash shop was okay until they added a bunch of event items and an emote from a year ago. I wonder why nobody flipped out when Sleipnir became a cash shop item, when SE could have made it a rare drop from Odin.

I was actually around during the event. I paid my sub in that time. I completed the quest. I got the rewards.

I rerolled on a new server a month ago after a short break. I thought I'd just be able to earn the rewards again, as that is how it worked the last time I played. It's really, really crappy that SE pulled content - plain and simple.
