Adding Legacy Tattoo to Mog Station

This again? Why is there a sudden urge of people wanting something that is exclusive to 1.0 supporters? Why can't a few things remain exclusive?

Well it just seems a bit weird for things to be exclusive, there's no reason to bar content from customers who actively want it. It's not like it's hidden behind some big grind or hard boss, it's just simply 100% inaccessible, and that can be sort of demoralizing to new players knowing from the word go they can't possibly achieve everything.

It's exclusive because we are the players who stuck by SE when XIV was a struggling game. We paid money for XIV back when the game wasn't even good enough to be paying money for. We earned our stripes because we didn't want XIV to fail and thus SE to go down with it.

Too bad, so sad for the new players who are just now coming onto the XIV bandwagon. If you wanted it so bad, you should have played 1.0. The new players that want it, only want it because it IS exclusive and special. Too late.

Fair enough. However, the fact remains you and a bunch of other people did miss it. It was out for a few years, especially times when the game was free to play. Sorry you missed 1.0.

Yeah. I do not see how it would really be detrimental to your gameplay though. I really like the 1.0 storyline and carteneau event, and I decided to make my RP character have experienced those events. It would be very immersive and nice for me to just get the simple tattoo for my rp. Until then I just keep my back covered, it is just visual and offers no other benefits, I guess. If I could get it though I would, and so fast.

Also you get a lower sub and your name in the credits, that is more beneficial and cool than a tattoo, but that tattoo would be really nice for my RP

Because the fact remains that you weren't there. I don't believe you or any other new player would deserve such a marking. To us, it is more than a tattoo. It symbolizes that we were loyal enough to stand by SE, to play during the 1.0 era and help XIV grow to become the game it is today. Without us 1.0 players, there wouldn't be a XIV: ARR or a XIV: Heavensward.

While it'd be nice to you, again, it would spit in the faces of those who did deserve the legacy tattoo. Because they were there. They experienced it. You did not.

So you would discredit my entire RP character on the simple fact that I meta IRL did not know that the game existed a few years ago? That is quite extremely limiting. I watched a lot of cutscenes from 1.0 and read up on the past lore. As far as I care, my character was there. If it is more money SE wants, then let me retroactively pay for the time missed by buying it in the cash shop.

As someone who was there for that time, I'm not sure I agree with this attitude. I was grateful to be there, the experience was pretty valuable. You couldn't possibly do the 1.0 story now, you can't go back in time and redo any of the old content. People who started in 2.0 and later are probably kicking themselves for missing such a substantial part of what made the game what it is today, and knowing what it is now probably would gladly go back and fund it if they could.

It's not really about impacts on gameplay, it's about the kind of message SE sends to players, so it's ultimately a PR thing. They said it would be exclusive as a reward for playing during the rough times of 1.0, and sticking with that decision will do more to garner goodwill from consumers than adding it as a purchasable item in the shop because some new players want it too. Simple as that.

I’m not sure I would have written that for my character backstory when it’s a blatant lie. Of all the things you could have come up with, why this one? I don’t think it’s fair to ask for something so exclusive just for your RP. You’re writing the story, so just rewrite it.
