A: you can edit your posts to add however much length you want.

B: while it IS whining, you've got a point. The "fun" features that you mentioned have all been poorly implemented.

2.X sightseeing had such tight restrictions (coupled with some horrible translations for hints) that I doubt anyone hit 100% on 2.X locations without searching for help online. The goal should have been to BOOST immersion, not force players to check online to see what other people had discovered. And for anyone that says you SHOULD do them without outside help... vista 067 says hello. Even knowing how to do that one, the jump took me dozens of tries. I never would have assumed the location was possible to reach if I hadn't seen a video online of someone performing it.

Triple Triad has a lot going for it, but lots of mismanagement as well. You have the "tournament" where cheaters operate in the open and the devs are oblivious to WHY the tournament is not working. You have insane RNG for certain cards that require you to spend tons of MGP just to fill in one or two blank spots in your collection. You can easily drop enough MGP to buy Fenrir, and still not get the missing NON-TRADABLE cards. You've also got a 3-star restriction on your own hand, even when playing against friends, because more restrictions = more fun, right? And let's not forget a drop rate in 3.0 card duels that is so low, I didn't realize there WERE new cards to win from NPCs until I read about it online. 5-10 wins against every new 3.0 npc, and I didn't see a single card, yet I get a griffin card from Dusk Vigil about 50% of the time.

Chocobo racing is a cool idea, but the lag there is so terrible most days that there doesn't seem to be a point in trying. Also, spend your MGP on leveling up your chocobo, rather than spending it on cool gold saucer prizes. Why do the two main gold saucer events eat up so much MGP? Let me buy card packs and rank 3 food with gil, and spend my MGP points on the fun things.

And that jumbo cactpot. Check out the achievements on that sucker. Now consider that SOMEONE on the dev team thought that the achievements felt about right. Either you score a 1/10,000 chance once, a 1/1000 chance ten times, or a 1/100 chance one hundred times. TWO YEARS of winning a 1/100 chance roll each week, and there are TWO achievement titles (moneybags and high-roller) gated behind it. Who thought that was a good idea?

So yeah, it isn't that this game is anti-fun. It's that there are little things that make fun activities needlessly tedious, and the devs need to think more about this when they try to implement something "fun". If the 3.0 sightseeing log is any indication, they have gotten a LOT better with this. They also say there will be many changes and tweaks to Gold Saucer in 3.1, so I'm hoping to see some of the tedium lifted. Fingers are crossed.

Pick up a hobby? I know this might be weird, but you realize we are talking about a video game, right?
