Real question is, why are you caring around more gear then need? Even if you were to have a gear set for each of your roles, there would be more then enough space to change when you need too.

Suppose at 3.0 upon launch you have all your jobs at 50, including DoH/DoL. You unlock the 3 new jobs.

That's 20 rings.

Now you level your main job up to 60. There goes 2 extra rings. You level your second job to 60, another 2 extra rings. When you want to level your 3rd job to 60...guess what. You don't have enough space to carry all the rings you need.

Now mix in DoL/DoH at different levels. And there's a real need to have a bigger AC, at least for rings.

Still sounds like an inventory management issue on users part. I have full gear sets for all my roles, and never ran into an issue; unless I forgot to remove things that I wasn't using.

I'm confused by your statement - he's describing a very possible situation in which a player has 26 rings that are all current, all being used by one job or another. Start with his initial list of rings - that's 20 rings for having every job at 50, and then unlocking the three new jobs and giving them each 2 rings.

Next, level PLD to 60. You now need 2 level 60 rings for PLD, and 2 level 50 rings for your WAR. They can't share, unless you want a gimpy PLD. We're up to 22 rings needed.

Next, level NIN to 60. You now need 2 level 60 rings for NIN, and 2 level 50 rings for BRD. Again, these rings can't be shared. That's 24 rings.

Next, level MNK to 60. You now need 2 level 60 rings for MNK, and 2 level 50 rings for DRG. Once again, every set of rings is being used - and now we've exceeded the capacity of the ring chest, with 26 rings.

Now level one each of your DoL and DoH to 60, for extra lulz.

There's no way to argue that this is an inventory management issue, unless you claim that making trips to your retainer, or using regular inventory space to store some of the rings, is an acceptable form of inventory management.

You could try to argue that this is a job management issue - just level PLD concurrently with WAR, NIN concurrently with BRD, etc, so these jobs all continue using the same rings at all times, but I feel like that's putting an unfair burden on the player. What if you don't want to level WAR right now, but do want to level PLD? Why should you feel obligated to do level both?
