The former is very much what we don't need in this community, we already get alot of it as it is and we don't even have official parsers. And those running third party parsers, as I've noted, used their numbers exactly how we feared they'd be used. Not even anecdotal, I got parser bashed not too recently in a Duty Fractal run... by the tank. We need to quit acting like self-righteous arses before anything like a parser will be accepted outside of PvP (last time I did Frontlines they did a parse at the end, totally official if vague).
Do you ask people whether they have a parser or not?
I'm sure as hell NOBODY outside of my FC knows I am running one, when I am. Why? Because I don't tell people their numbers, unless they would ask, and I'd likely just tell them to get their own at that point. My main reason for running a parser in low level dungeons (which you can EASILY do with 1 DPS AFK) is to see my OWN DPS and compare it to the rest of the team to see how much difference stuff in my rotation makes.

And that's the thing, you will NEVER know about people who don't abuse the numbers, because you WON'T know they are using a parser.
So your "And those running third party parsers, as I've noted, used their numbers exactly how we feared they'd be used." is nothing but anecdotal evidence without any relevance. You would need to count the total amount of people using parsers and compare it to the total number of people being douches about it.
