1) SE getting more money = GOOD! Stop crying about SE getting more money.
2) These items were already part of gameplay and obtainable for free.
3) New players can easily go for new items. Nobody is forcing them to buy anything. They really really really want this specific one? They can, they just have to buy it.
4) If SE would return old events they would have less incentive to create new ones = BAD.

Indeed, the yukata is just a bonus. So why do you complain ? because of a purely glam bonus you did'nt get because you weren't playing the game, whitch is then, totally legit...

Players now have to pay extra on top of their sub on the off chance that they missed it.

2) Let players do both the new event quests AND the old ones.

This could be done if those events were instantiated, this is not the case since they are link to fate and other not instantiated quests. Since new fates and new stories result in new set up in games this solution 2 could be reconsidered only if they rework entirely the system as it is now, and they wont because those events are made to be ephemeral, and not last longer, it a game design choice they won't go back on that so they choose the 1st option : Earn money and make available old stuff in cash shop without having to rework everything.

There is some serious entitlement going on in here.

Event rewards are offered in game for free during the event. If you aren't subscribed during the event period or join the game after the event is over, why would you expect to get those items? Heaven forbid anything actually be special in this game.

It being worth 2$ doesn't make it any more special than it being obtainable via in-game means. You know what's special? The year exclusive we hold the item before it gets released again.

That's one year before people who missed the event, that's all that should be necessary. Make the item obtainable in-game the next year during the same event that is yearly. They took this system from FFXI and imported it into FFXIV, but they started turning into a cash shop with this game when before hand you could obtain new items and the old items each year. That is the issue.

This isn't a Free to Play game, it's Pay to Play. Offer unique stuff on the cash shop? That's fine. However...

We should not have to pay for stuff that was obtainable in-game already. The cash shop should be optional, not mandatory for previously in-game items.

Look, this is model SE has chosen to do. It's either you deal with it, or unsub. There are plenty of MMOs out there and we will not miss you. If you unsub, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

All of the stuff they added are from past events, which you can no longer obtain ingame as they changed things so that they didn't have to add an ever increasing library of ingame buyable rewards year after year.

Sure it sucks a little, but it's not going to effect your ability to do any of the game content, so it's still just cosmetic stuff.

I'm not against having a cash shop, I personally do all the events and get all the items free and like the idea that if I miss something, i could buy it from the cash shop if i wanted to, the only thing I don't agree with is having items in cash shop that are not first available in game, be they glamour, furniture, mounts, minions, etc.

This also a way to reward players that play the game since longer than you do.

As for the argument 'other companies did it as well!' umm.. screw Blizzard, I know full well they're at fault for this entire cash shop in sub based games problem, idiot WoW players accepted being screwed over by purchasing 20 euro mounts.
