I would like to see cards make up for the dps ast doesnt. If they cant do 500 dps then let them give dps that extra 500 total, of course that would mean dps need to know how to do the job but thats beside the point. I wiuld like to see them be able to buff the other healer, or be able to augment further defenses, i would like to see both sects be used through the fight. Like if you need the regen for one part then switch cuz shields are benificial

Cards are supposed to make up for their inability to directly DPS but since only 2 of the cards directly affect DPS (Balance and Arrow) it isn't always the case, and anything less than an Expanded Balance on the entire party is going to be less than what a SCH could output for the duration.

My personal experience. I wanted AST to be my new main. The first thing I did when 3.0 launched was unlocking AST and leveling it to 60. I did all the main scenario quest with my AST and I cleared all content up to A4 with it (primal ex included). I thought AST was "fine" even tho I felt like cards were a little underwhelming. Then I leveled WHM and SCH because in my opinion a good healer should know what his/her partner can do to better assist in making strategies...and what I found out was rather depressing. AST is weak. Terribly weak. AST's one and only healing CD is Synastry which is very niche. It can be useful in some cases, like A1S double preys, but for most fights it is not (and again, a good SCH will manually control the fairy, and embrace is potentially a synastry with a 100% uptime). Also, AST plays a lot more like WHM then SCH. I was main WHM in 2.X so using AST was ok...but then I found how nice the new skills of a WHM and SCH are.

If the players who were getting world first put the time into learning astro instead of screaming how broken it is they might actually see its not as bad as they cry about. Does it need help? slightly buffing it wouldnt hurt. But again.. it is a FAR CRY from broken and not nearly as bad as these idiots are claiming. its a L2P issue as yes its healing is weaker.. they cant fix stupid dps standing in stupid stuff. THey cant fix stupid tanks who dont use Cooldowns. Thats not a fault of the job.. Astro brings out the faults in everyone else and people are screaming it is the AST fault.

When one healer can mask error, and another can't, the latter doesn't get a raid spot. That's how healing works.

Yup.

I have SCH and AST at 60. They can both do most content. SCH just does it better, safer, and faster.

All AST can do that SCH can't is restore TP and MP, which IS good, but just not worth the overall weaker emergency options.

And yeah, it royally sucks that esos aren't swappable between classes. If they DO buff AST finally, it'll be a giant PITA to switch to it from SCH. :\
