You do not get it.

This game was released way too early. Now, they are basically redesigning the whole game. What we are doing now is playing a game while it's been developed. Redesigning the whole game takes a lot of time and testing it takes even more. If you don't want another volume of broken FFXIV you want them to take their time testing.

To keep our interest in this game while they are doing this long process they need to add content.

Quest, sidequests, grand companies, raids, events, these stuff have kept me interested in this game while I'm waiting them to fix core mechanics and stuff.

If there wouldn't have been any content updates, I would have already forgotten this game.

Perhaps we just perceive value differently. The type of quests that have been added are not now and never will be important to me. Raiding is not now, and never has been important to me. Events are obviously not important to me. Now being able to buy and sell goods quickly and easily IS important to me. Being able to administer a guild properly is important to me.

Being able to have a battle with a group, that does not involve my weapon skills going off 5 seconds after the mob died is important to me.

So in short, none of what you mentioned has helped keep me interested in this game.

The only thing they have done up to now that has brought back any interest is making it possible to have a group sp party again that is actually beneficial to the players participating. Unfortunately since battle is so easy right now, that is not fun for very long, as no real strategy is required, and gear doesn't seem to matter etc.

Now if just would have made your original post like this then people would have seen where you are going. But you just made a thread about resources being wasted on events which you think are worthless.

Everything you mentioned that you would have liked to be added are important to me. But I understand the work behind it. It takes and will take time. I hate waiting for them but at least I'm not waiting empty-handed. You might think you are but I don't.

People that don't want " Content" or anything that keeps us interested in the game, shouldn't be around these forums nor the game, because Content is WHATS KEEPING THIS GAME ALIVE! Do you know what would happen if there was no Content? The Game not being Updated? What would the Fans think? How would they react to the sudden stoppage of the games "Content Development"? Do you? The Player base will slowly Dwindle to nothing and when they have finally fixed the core Problem you so Strongly feel that's it needs to take priority will in the end the result to FFXIV's Demise!

The player base on my server has already dwindled to near nothing so I don't see the stop gap measure of "add content now!" as a success or keeping the game alive unless alive means on life support in ICU with a priest dressed in WHM AF giving the last rites with the fan's tearfully looking on from the bedside.

I am not familiar with the Capt. Barbossa ref as I haven't seen the movies, but Wikipedia says this is related to those Johnny Depp films.

Just to use an analogy that you are free to malign and call inappropriate, uncomparable, or whatever colorful disagreence will be forthcoming:

If you have a car, that has tons of options, heated seats, auto-navigation, unbeatable sound system, luxury beyond your wildest dreams, but it has a couple of foundational issues, like, it takes 4 people to start the car, or it only runs on the blood of virgins, or whatever-

How many people will actually want this car? Not many, because it has fundamental flaws that hold it back from being successful. You can't buy virgin's blood at the Exxon station, and usually you don't have 3 other people there to help you start your car. Even if you do, at some point this becomes frustrating to the point its just not worth it anymore, and instead you get a Toyota or a Ford that just starts up and drives without the need for virgins blood or 3 other people to make it run.

Same for this game. It has so many foundational barriers to success, that no amount of glitter can fix that.

Fixing the games engine is something needs to be done yes I agree, but telling me and the rest of the FF Community to take a backseat and Halt progression of content and expect us to play the same repeating stuff for a year or 2 then you got another thing coming.

If the MAJORITY heard they shut this pig down, and started retooling it from the ground up, then it may generate some genuine interest in it when it relaunched.

I think everyone has different ideas on what will destroy and save this game. I for one am of the opinion that destruction of the armory system, optimal rank system, and oversimplification of the crafting system will destroy this game. Others think to the the contrary. They think that this will in fact save it.

But I think most can agree that a lack of shadows will NOT be the death of this game, although they would still be nice, all the same.
